Hey guys! I'm new here but Im actually looking forward to getting stuck in to this forum as it looks like a good place to be! I'm a mid(ish) range PC owner thats looking to upgrade a few things.. I wanted to get some advice on the components I should upgrade..

Currently I'm running a Sapphire Radeon 7950, my CPU ive had for a while is the FX-6100. Not the greatest CPU I know, but im a student so what can you do?! The motherboard is the Asus m5a78l-m mobo. Again, not the best but it gets me by. OS is on a vertex SSD and my power supply is the corsair AX 650.

So, Im thinking of upgrading just the mobo atm and overclock the hell out of the cpu. What do you guys think?

It would be great to get some advice! :)

I think youll need good cooling to overclock that cpu. But in all honesty Id stick with what you have and maybe look at cooling.

If you want to spend money on your rig it would be be better to be spending money moving away from that socket.

Thanks for the reply! And yeah, I think I will end up jumping on the Intel chip at the end of next year. But for now I think I will just look at the cooling and overclocking the fx. Ive got the define R4 and have been looking into the h100i but I know that its a tight squeeze in that case but doable.

What would you reccommend for cooling the fx chip if Im going to be getting a decent overclock whilst thinking about case space?
