Hey Lads & Ladies,

Recently discovered Toms videos on youtube and they are the best reviews I've ever seen! Covers everything you want to know, plus additional ramblings which somehow make the videos even better haha. Amazingly Tom even took the time to send me an email with advise on building my flight sim rig. Legend mate

Thought I would join up and possible post a thread with my new rig when im finished building it. Want to learn to overclock too so this look like the place.

I live on the goldy. Was down Sydney last month just for the weekend, Kings isn't as crazy as they make it seem on underbelly hey haha. Though all the cops with vests were a surprise..

Hey ive searched "i7 Overclocking Guide" but couldn't find one. Is it hiding? Pretty n00b to over clocking but have been reading bits and pieces. I would like to get 4.5Ghz stable. Could you link a really good guide to get the best results.

System is:

i7 950 with nh-d14 cooler

ASRock extreme 6

corsair dominator 1600Mhz

2 x 6970s

HAF X case

Cheers

im from perth mate:)

overclocking is pure trial you cant just expect 4.5ghz stable because heat is gonna be relativly high plus the volts will be high aswell, also have you already gotten your asrock mobo? if you havent ditch it and get a sabertooth. Im pretty new to overclocking aswell but I have learnt a hell of alot, in saying that ive managed 4ghz 1.28v completely stable and my temps never go over 58 degrees (im averaging 45-48) since its gotten alot hotter I normally idle at 36 degrees. also remember this blck:200x20multi will always give you 4ghz plus it gives the ram options of 1600mhz and 2000mhz, in your case you would pick 16000mhz this makes your life alot easier

Hety man welcome,

I could be wrong but i don't think the ASRock extreme6 will get you to 4500Mhz...

Asrock isn´t known for their overclocking potential...

But as i said, i could be completely wrong

Its actually the last component of my build and I havent picked it up yet because flooding wiped out my fav computer stores HQ. So i could swap it for another if you guys think..

Hey Fox, another Aussie here! I'm Sydney based. Glad you're ok in the floods, bad luck about the local PC shop though! Which shop was it?

Thanks mate, store it was umart. Well the HQ which manages all the shipments so all the baby stores are almost sold out of everything lol. There pricing is good enough to wait for though. Totally shocked at the Australian presents here. Kinda reminds me of this irish motorbike forum that has 90% Australian members lol.

That green HAF X case of yours looks like a beast. Is that a custom paint job or something?

No it's a limited edition case. The HAF-X Nvidia edition, I saw a preview of one and decided that it was the way to go, I really like fluro green, although the wife isn't so happy about it sitting on the office desk in the lounge room.
