Help! PSU went KA-BOOM!

Okay, Just pluged in Bloodreds New PC and the PSU went Boom!

The PSU wasn't new but hasn't been used.

Would you of thought the rest of the hardware could of suffered too?

All there was was a spark and then the house fuse went too.

ATX is meant to safe the hardware but, still im worried.

Does anyone know if this would live on?

Its totaly hit and miss. Get another and try it out. Then if it dosn't boot you can worry.

You'll never know until you test it, Sounds like it was bad one if it made the house fuse go.

There's only 1 way to find out

Get another PSU plugged into it. PSU's are good at blowing mobo's tho but you might be lucky, depends on what blew in the psu. It wasn't a Q-Tec PSU was it?

Could also be possible a disk drive blew the PSU tho.

If it was me I'd unplug all drives + pos GPU if it takes direct power and try powering the mobo on. See if the mobo powers on and also if it gives any beeps.

Also check the power headers on the mobo and drives etc

I guess. But there was no frazzeling of chips and no burn marks to show a serge.

I had a junk Sunbeam PS pop on me but everything in my comp was fine.

I hope all goes well.

PS start checking for shorts in the wiring (crossed red/black or yellow/black wires) and start building your comps outside the case first.

My dad saids it should be fine, the PSU blow out on the primary side.. So yeah luck!

I have had two enermax's go on me in a similar manner - but the PC always booted after a new PSU...
