ok i got a slight problem.

went to turn on my pc earlier and ......nothing

the power lights came on,but nothing else happened

so i opened it up and took apart and noticed the heatsink felt like it was welded to the cpu.

that sounds ominous to me,but there is no sign of any burn marks,do you think i have fried it?what do you think?

any ideas would be great

biostar geforce 6100 m9

athlon64 3500+

try reseating all your bits 'n' bobs. If that doesnt work then i'm taking a wild guess at your motherboard. But thats just a grudge :p Try reseating your bits first.

have taken the full thing apart and rebuilt it and still nothing..

take it you dont like biostar then?

looks like its gonna have to go back for testing then.i would rather it be the board instead of the cpu

You can get a good idea of where the problem lies by having a good look at the laquer on the underside of the board. When my ASUS went down (same symptoms as your board) I noticed some slight blistering right under the northbridge chip, the laquer had also gone slightly milky in color in that area.
