Hi

Yesterday my computer kept saying that it was not shut down properly etc, and whenever you went on any of the options: safe mode, last good config, normal, It said that a system config file was missing.

So, i had a search on google and the main way to fix problem was to use the OS disk and repair the file.

I did this and the install froze halfway through, so i ended up switching it off.

Now whenever i try and turn on the pc it always tries to carry on with this install and i now have no way of reformatting the hard drive which is what i am now trying to do.

Anyone know of a way to cancel the install or reformat the hdd?

Thanks

Matt

Go into your BIOS.

Set the first boot device as CDROM/DVD.

Save and exit.

Your computer will reboot, it will or should come up with "Press any key to boot from DVD..." Press ENTER. This will then start up the Windows installation menu.

You may of already done this but there is ways of repairing the Windows without having to need to boot from the DVD.

also check that the drive you have installed on is the on that is set to the boot device in the bios.

I have already done that, and that is when it freezes during the repair, i also tried using the recovery console but that didnt work either...

Also it doesnt go to installation menu it goes straight to trying to repair it from the part where it froze

Yeah thats what we did with his computer....

I was using a laptop so couldn't do it with that.

Am getting a new pc in a month or so anyway so losing everything isnt such a big deal
