Help with custom motherboard tray

Hi all,
Right so i'm planning on building my own case from scratch, i will be using acrylic for most if not all of its structure.

I have the design pretty much all thought out already, but one of my problems is how big i should make the motherboard tray, i currently only have a Flex ATX mobo but i want my case to support up to XL-ATX so that i have all the options open for when i finally have the funds to upgrade everything.

I've always been a bit confused about the different Motherboard sizes but i do have a general sort of idea: Mini-ITX, Flex-ATX, Micro-ATX, ATX and then i assume E-ATX then XL-ATX after that?? I have searched Google and it seems where ever i go i get a link to this website formfactors.org which doesn't seem to work.

Basically what i need is a diagram showing the exact measurements for the screw holes for all of these Motherboard types and the dimensions of an XL-ATX mobo so that i know how big to make the tray.

If anyone could help me out it would be a big help.

Thanks for reading,
Antony :)

P.S. I will be doing a build log when i start the construction so keep an eye out for that.

Here ya go.

Great just what i'm looking for, so the SR2 lines are XL-ATX correct? sorry if i sound like a noob this just always confuses me.
Is E-ATX and XL-ATX the same thing also?

Also i could do with a measurements Diagram for the PCI slots and Back plate if anyone has one :)

XL atx is different because XL ATX has more pci express slots and thus is longer but isnt very much wider then standard ATX, EATX is generally only used for boards that have 2 or more cpu sockets.

For the SR2 or SRX the XL ATX lines match up on the bottom yes.

I will try to find such a table of measurements for the pci slots and backplate, but otherwise you could always salvage the backplate with the slots from another case to start with.

EDIT: i did find some things for you.

No problem sir, just keep in mind to measure everything twice, and then again to make sure everything fits :)

Another thing, try to use the Edit button to add additional info instead of double posting.

Good luck!

well its been a while since I posted that!! It all lined up fine for me when I finally made my MB tray, if you want the CAD files ill happily send them over, they contain the material thickness info as well. Anyway, I'm glad someone found it useful!
