I have a Xigmatek Elysium case along with 2 GTX 590's in SLI (Asus ENGTX590) and a Core i7 2600k @4.6Ghz (the cooler is thermaltake frio ock which is also very loud) the noise of the computer under load is almost unbearable, actually I don't really mind it since most of the time I have my headphones on but my wife does and she is giving me a hard time about it especially during the evenings

so I decided to switch to watercooling. I have very limited technical information about watercooling let alone actually building one so I don't really know what radiator, pump etc. is needed to keep my stuff cool and most importantly SILENT!

Yesterday I did something pretty funny and ordered 2 water blocks for the 590's (EK-FC590 GTX-Acetal+EN Nickel) and a cpu block (EK-Supreme HF Acetal+Nickel) I did it because I'm a very lazy person and I was most likely going to change my mind about it and keep using the aircooled system but now after paying roughly €400 for the water blocks I can't

I need some advice for the rest of the setup. First of all I want to avoid a dual loop setup! I want to keep things as simple as possible due to my lack of experience with watercooling also I dont like the idea (and the looks) of filling the case with hoses and reservoirs luckily I discovered that I can fit a 480mm. radiator infront of the case if I remove the optical drive which I almost never use.(I called the local Xigmatek support line and they confirmed that the 480mm rad. will fit infornt of the case if there is no optical drive installed) Anyways here are the questions

1. Will a single 480mm. radiator handle the entire components or do I really need a dual loop setup? (I'm aware that my setup is a bit extreme but I'm not after incredibly low temperatures so I'm ok with it if you think the temps will be a bit on the high side with a single rad. I still want to overclock though)

2. I plan to use the 2 stock front fans of the case (xigmatek xlf-f1254 1500rpm/61cfm) and get two more of the same fans for the radiator, they are silent enough I guess!(it says 20db) but are they good enough ?

3. What radiator and pump should I get? (a brand/model name will make my life a lot easier)

Thats it for now

actually I have more questions but I keep them for later besides I have a feeling that this will take more reading/researching than I predicted... anyways thanks in advance

btw sorry for the language errors I'm not a native speaker.

well first things first you have one of the best cases for water cooling, how you ended up using a frio I have no idea.

2 590s is quite a bit heat not to mention a 2600k mildly overclocked, a 480 may cool all of it, I dont really no the limitations of a 480 rad.

for the pump the best I can recommend is the swiftech mp655 this pump is made for these applications and will make sure your system as enough flow and pressure to help cool everything.

i would do 1 loop with 2 XSPC RX360 rads (one in the front and one in the top) and since you dont wanna fill your case with res and pumps, get an xspc dual bay res that fits a laing d5 pump and you should be set. i hope that helps feel free to ask more questions

Can that case really fit a dual bay res/pump and a 360 in the front, if so I may suddenly be spending monnies I don't have

thanks for the feedback guys but I'm already done building it

after doing some research I decided to go with a dual loop setup. Below is the list of stuff I used.

Phobya G-Changer 420mm - 3x XIGMATEK XAF-F1454 Fans (On the top for the Gpu-s)

Phobya G-Changer 360mm - 3x XIGMATEK XLF-F1254 Fans (In the front for the Cpu)

Koolance RP-452X2 5.25 Reservoir with two Laing D5 Vario Pumps

and the blocks I mentioned earlier

I'm extremely happy about the result it's dead silent. I also managed to squeeze out another 400mhz from the cpu without any increase in the voltages thanks to the low temps. I still have some modifications to do especially with the tubing it looks pretty ugly atm

I ordered some nice looking fittings from bitspower and waiting for them to arrive. After I'm done playing Skyrim I intend to rearrange stuff and make it look more handsome

Not everything went smoothly though I wasted like 10 meters of hose, 8 fittings, 3-4 liters of liquid, a few major leaks (thankfully no harm done) and it took me 3 days to bleed the loop
biggrin.gif
All in all it was a fun experience a little time consuming but I really enjoyed it

lol it can actually fit even more, a 360 rad, dual bay res and a cd/dvd writer in the front

look at this link and scroll down a bit (but i must warn you, he did a messy job with the tubes)

I'v seen that build before and actually copied it a bit though mine looks a lot worse

the thing is the case is too big and you end up using too much tube I don't think it can be avoided unless you use lots of extensions and angled fittings.
