My pc keeps turning off like someone pulled the plug on it then 5 seconds later restarts no error message no BSOD just windows didn't shutdown properly message.

Its getting very annoying

Anyone any ideas?

nothing is overheating cpu 3930K is at 53C and HD7970 is at 45C when playing games

got a spare PSU? or maybe just a PSU power cord?
powers down by itself usually suggests power supply unit..

airdeano

Updated to the latest bios and drivers? Had bluescreens with the latest version of the ASUS usb 3.0 drivers on my R4F too :(

yes its the latest bios and drivers its been doing it from day 1 also some times it will sit at the screen asking if you want to go into the BIOS for eternity and you have to reset to get it to actually boot.

Could all this point towards a faulty MB?

Test it with 1 ram module - if possible with another cpu. Check the ram latences, be sure to use the XMP profile, if you're using Dominator GTs at least try it with another power supply.

Okay .. simplefield update everything to the latest status. (but watch out for the usb 3.0 drivers I got porblems with the latest version.) If the problem still appears use your warrenty.

All drivers can make your system getting instable .. for example mine got bluescreens from the USB 3 driver ..

i think then i will try downgrading video drivers as that is the most likely thing, it only does it on 1 new game though so im inclined to think that its probably the game than the drivers really plus its a game still in Alpha

To eliminate the possibility of faulty PSU, I also suggest running prime95 AND Furmark simultaneously for 15 - 30 minutes and record the temps. It is VERY DEMANDING and stressing your components VERY MUCH, but it is the best way to ensure your PSU can handle the stress of your system drawing the maximum power. Once you have done this, you know your system is stable and all faults are software related.
