I have a German-manufactured Icy Box, 1.8" external case with 500GB SATA HD. I have had it for 16 months and never experienced any problems, but about a month ago it started emitting a loud rattling noise every time I switch it on, which would last for a few minutes. Now it wouldn't work any more when connected to the TV - first i was getting just a blue start-up screen with a message "No Media Detected" in the top left hand corner,and the LCD on the Icy Box showing "No HDrive". Since yesterday nothing appears, the TV screen just flickers and nothing showing on the LCD either.
The Icy Box still works when plugged in the PC - the computer recognises it and all the files are in order. Therefore, I can only use it as an external data storage, but not as a media player.
Any idea what may be causing this problem and how to fix it? Any help/response will be greatly appreciated.
