Help needed for M ITX build

Hi guys its time for me to redo my original pc build almost a year and a half ago. I want to go with an M ITX build because of space constraints. I am still using my CPU which is a 3570K and graphics card which is a MSI 660 ti. So the only thing I really need help with is case choice and motherboard choice. Also the PC will be mostly for gaming and maybe some movie watching. My wife uses it also for some light school work but nothing major. I know the choices are limited but I would like to know what you guys think I should do. I would not mind getting into some light modding of the new case so any suggestions on that end would be welcome as well. Once again Thanks for all you guys help on the forum.

What kind of space limits? Some Itx cases are taller but shorter and some are deeper but shorter.

You could get a M-atx case that supports itx. Allows for more room and easier building.

for itx the first one that almost anyone on this forum will point out is the Bitfenix Prodigy. Fractal Design Node series are another good one.

As far as I know the Asus p8z77-i deluxe, is about as good as you're gunna get for a 3570k

And in terms of cases, you have a few choices, but I used the Bitfenix Prodigy and there's a lot you can do with it in terms of Watercooling and enough room to accommodate some pretty good stuff.

Got to make sure you get a psu that fits too, if you go with that case. Silverstone offers a good one, can't for the life of me remember the model number though.

In terms of dimensions I would prefer the case be taller but shorter. My desk is pretty small and my R4 is alittle too big for the space. I have been watching a few videos on the Prodigy as well It seems like a good case and a decent option. The node looks like a good option too but does it fit my 660ti and the layout kinda looks funny to me I am not exactly a pro at the whole building of PC so it looks to be difficult but I guess thats the challenge right?

thanks for the quick reply in terms of motherboard I was looking at that board as well as the Asrock board but the Asrock seems to have been discontinued so I was wondering if there were any other boards out there that were a good option. I have a corsair TX750 I am not sure if that will fit I have to measure it to find out but I am willing to invest in another thanks for the recommendation.

My brother has an Arc Mini and it is noticeably smaller than my r4. If also fits itx so the little added size will save you from buying a new psu. Arc Mini R2 is also out so worth looking into. Last i checked they are not much more expensive than a prodigy and about the same size- due to the prodigy having large handles.

Yeah I was looking at the Arc Mini R2 I dont know how much of a difference in size I would love to see one in person to get the actual dimensions I might have to go to microcenter to check it out. I was also looking into the Cooler master 130 which seems like a cool little case.

r.e. the motherboard. not really. i think it's pretty much considered the best. and yeah i thought it was pretty awesome and you can even do some pretty good overclocking because of the VRM implementation

Pleas ekeep in mind that you may not be able to fit the D14 into a smaller MITX case. so you MAY have to look into a new cpu cooler as well. just something to keep in mind when picking.

Yeah the D14 will def not fit in any of these cases besides the Prodigy. I am looking into the Cooler Master 130 with a Silverstone Tundra TD03 with the Asus motherboard. Thats the simple system I have come up with right now Its a compact case just big enough for my space and also able to hold the components I am trying to use.

I kinda like the look of the Tundra more but what do you think would be better I am still in the planning stages so more options the better.

After a quick search online the H80i and Silverstone Tundra both perform within a degree of eachother. In that case get the cheaper one- or the better looking one in your case.

Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it. I would not care so much but its also gonna be used by my wife and she wants something that looks decent as well as kills games lol. So Tundra it is.

Glad i could help. What does the build look like so far?
Have not started it yet was just doing research on parts will be ordering the parts on either black friday or around that time trying to see if I could get any of the parts alittle cheaper since the wife wants me to stay on a budget lol.

What i meant was what are the parts you are planning on getting so far lol:p
As of right now I am getting

Silverstone Strider 600Watt PSU
Silverstone Tundra CPU cooler
Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe
I5 3570K
Corsair LP RAM
GTX 660Ti or Upgrading christmas to Hopefully GTX770 or 780Ti
Samsung 840 SSD 2X
Still deciding whether to get Node 304 or
Silverstone White SG05W-LITE

That is all I am planning right now what do you think?

280x is better than a 770... but if you can afford a 780ti then by all means go for it.

How much ram? I am assuming the standard 8gb?
TBH the node 304 from what i hear is a bitch to build in. I do not know about the silverstone case though. Also try to take a look at the bitfenix phenom case. Brand new and is like the prodigy but i think slightly smaller due to no handles.

here is toms review on it if this helps at all.

Trying to stay within a budget as well the 780 Ti is kinda out of the price range but I will try and scrounge up the funds for one. The 770 is what I was really looking for price wise. Also me being a newbie in this pc building stuff I have never really used an AMD based video card so I dont really know what to say on that end. Any advise would be welcome about this. The amount of RAM I have in the system is 16GB. I have another option case wise I have been looking into the Cooler Master Elite 130. Any help will be welcome thanks guys your the best of help.

770 is not worth it compared to a 280x which will beat it stock vs stock and OC vs OC. My 7950 runs great without problems. Most people buy nvidia because of fanboyism with EVGA. They pay more but get less performance. Drivers are the only difference and a lot of people will say amd sucks but IMO they are better. Always offering large performance gains and living up to those claims. They are almost entirely redone their drivers in 6months and started fresh. Nvidia can't say the same.

16gb is overkill but worth it since many games chew it up now.

Pick the case you like. I am merely suggesting my alternatives.
