Help me get my money back *OWNED*

Well yea about to send an email with me tryin to sound as pivvled as possible:

I have just bought "The very best of Frantic Euphoria" from the retail outlet at HMV Shrewsbury. I was shocked at the price of £19 they were charging but I presumed this was normal as it was a compilation cd. To my dismay, after getting home, putting on one of the cds, I checked your website to see current offers and my CD has been listed here for £8.99 DELIVERED! Not only did it cost more to go to the store, but double the normal RRP you charge for a 2 year old CD!

I can only describe my emotions as deeply shocked at this, what I hope to be a rare commodity but feel I have been "ripped off".

Is there anything you can do to reinstate my losses such as a replacement or gift voucher for the extra £9 I seem to have been charged for no apparent reason.

Pretty much sums it up the CDS weren't wrapped in film but it had a security sticker over the box and cds which i had to remove to get the cds out (stupid thing but i wanted a listen!) but i presume it was only to stop people nicking it!

Does that sound good enough? Cheers

I'd probably try and go from the angle that you bought it from the store, went home, checked their site to find that you had been overcharged. Perhaps ask them why the price on the website is so much cheaper than the store as it's the same company?

Failing that you could scratch the cd's, take them back and state that they were damaged and ask for a gift voucher (assuming they don't have anymore in stock)

Anyway, aren't all consumers entitled to time period where they can return goods under the Consumer Goods Act or something?

Perhaps check their website for details of their returns policy?

I think with anything delivered, you can return within 7days. Can't remember what law it was, soemthing to do with distance selling.

hmm just read thru the post a bit more.

You paid £19 in the HMV store and they have it online for £8.99

I notice they like charging more in their stores, but the stuff I've got from there is norm only £1 more or sommit. I guess the thing to do is take it back to the store with the reciept and say you bought it for your sisters birthday, but your mum also bought her it. (seems like 13yr old girly music to me)

Then order it for £8.99 online (if it's good :/)
