Ok, over the next few days am taking delivery of all parts for a budget pc build. Sorted everything so far except the dreaded gcard. My budget left for this is £100. So question is and have been mulling over loads of reviews and cards, what would work best with the following setup:

Intel i3-2120 Sandybridge Core i3 Dual-Core Processor 3.3ghz
Asus P8H61-MX USB3 Motherboard
OCZ - Vertex Plus Internal 2.5" SATA II SSD - 60GB x 2 (will be raided)
Corsair XMS3 8GB RAM DDR3 1333
CiT Vantage Midi Mesh Gaming Case
Powercool Modular 550W 80+ Dual 12V V2.2 High Efficiency PSU
Win 7 64bit.

Believe it or not all the above has only cost me £320. My budget was £400 but am going the extra £20 for a reasonable gcard.

Cheers guys.

The 7770 would be a good card for your budget. It's under £100 on Scan and Aria.

Have looked at that and the guys at my local pc shop say it's a good card and uses low power. I can get 6 month old 6850 though for £85 or a returned one for £101 cos the guy said the fan was noisy (bios idle stting i think) but wasn't sure if the power supply would be enough. The psu would olny be running 2 x SSD. No optical drive going in as loading Win 7 through USB so not much power pull.

Maybe save an extra £30-£40 and get a 7850?

Would like to have but sticking to budget as mrs wants a holiday in January. Was hard enough getting £400 past her..lol

To be honest i would go down that route if i had spent more on initial setup but don't really need that much power for what i play.

Well have been scouring ebay and other places and managed and found a HD6850 for £93. Its boxed with all the bits and seller says the item is new and a cutomer return. Reason for return was noisy fan when starting up but settles after a while. Got a feeling i read somewhere that some of these cards had a problem where the bios set the idle speed too high and it can be adjusted, anyone know abouth this.

Ok, all done and graphics card ordered. Forked out a few quid extra and have got a brand new XFX HD6870 for £123 delivered. Hope have made a good choice.
