I'm planning to buy a Mid range gaming laptop...
I've been searching a lot of forums and websites and it comes down to two laptops

First is the
MSI GE60 0NC-i3185+
MSI GE60 ONC-I3185+ | *15.6-IN. HD (1366X768) LED NON-GLARE, I3-3110 2.4GHZ, 08GB, 500GB, GT650M 2GB GDDR5, DVDRW, DOS

Second is the
MSI CX61-I7
MSI CX61-i7 | *15.6-in., i7-3610, 8Gb, 750Gb, GT640M 2Gb DDR3 VRAM, DOS
Here is the link from PC CORNER

Please help me choose :)

welcome to the OC3D forums!

kinda need more info to render spending your money, eh?

it'd kinda be great letting us know what you are using this for? gaming? apps?
just portable get it done?
what kind of budget and how much use will it see (1hr, 2hr, 4hr, 8hr...)

Thank you so much for the warm welcome :D

My budget is 35,000 pesos and if you convert it to dollars it will be $800.

I'm looking for a laptop that's packs a punch when it comes to gaming and i'll be working a bit with adobe premiere and photoshop :)

The two laptops i've posted is good but i'm confused what will i choose because the i3 with gt650m laptop is a gaming series while the other one is not but it is i7 with a gt640m..

What will the gaming series laptop will do good for me besides the steel series keyboard and good looks :)

Maybe i will use it between 4 to 6 hours (not daily and a maximum of 8 hours).

Thank you so much for your replies :)

The i7 is a quad core cpu while the i5 is dual core(in laptops) so the performance difference may be pretty noticable. Also a gt 640/650/660 all run on the same exact core and the only difference is clock speed( if i remember correctly). Go to nvidias website and check out the differences if you are very curious between them:)

ooohhhh thank you for the reply :) .. so the gaming series won't do anything good for me ? if that's the case i will really go on the i7 laptop :D

That would be my choice in a laptop too, an ssd upgrade will also really benefit the speed of your computer and make use of the extra speed the i7 will have as well.

The first laptops with haswell will come out after a month of release(mostly) and be more expensive. Wait it out a little bit longer so you can see which models you like best. Otherwise just buy one now, not that big of a difference anyway

Hmmmmm yeah you are right... Is the first batch of ivy bridge laptops really expensive ? and i'm thinking that if they release the haswell for laptops then the ivy bridge laptops will marked down their prices :D

No it will not make much of a price difference, ivy bridge quad cores cpus are more than capable to handle your tasks. Haswell will bring more energy efficiency and not as much performance.

hmmmmm.. maybe for now i'll just wait... you are right , according to tom's hardware benchmarks it will only give 7% faster than the ivy bridge ~
