Friend of mines speakers blew, so shes in need of some new ones. Been looking on various websites (Amazon, Overclockers, Aria...) and there are a ton of 2.0/2.1 speakers ranging from £10-25.

I've personally had good experience with Logitech and Creative and stumbled upon these Creative speakers that seemed like a good pair. I've also looked at A320, but from what I can tell the A250 are actually better.

This is just a pick among many and I could make a big list of various 2.1 speakers but I honestly dont know what to look for in these mid-range speakers...

Well if your looking for cheap and good sound i just use a 3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 Phono Cable and have the sound running from my stack system (my neighbours love it when i play battlefield on a 500w system) :P

It will cost you about £4 any stero system with aux/phono inputs will work and will be 100 times better than cheap plug in speakers.

But wouldnt I need a couple of speakers first to plug it into? :p
Im guessing a "complete kit" is gonna be cheaper than getting a couple of stand alone speakers, right?

Shes no sound enthusiast, her last speakers (before they blew) were just a regular set of 2.0 speakers, she just needs some decent sound because her headset is hurting her ears.

What? she dosent have at least a hifi in her house?

Oh my days - you cant even get good headphones that cheap >.<

Well she wants speakers, and just some regular two ones that plays sound that isnt mono. :P

No? If she had hifi why would I be looking for speakers?
Like I said her last speakers were some regular 2.0 (small, tiny desk ones) with a "scroller" on the side to adjust volume. She just wants some sound for her games and videos, she doesnt care if its hifi, with or without subwoofer etc.

But I figured she may aswell get a 2.1 system rather than 2.0, since these complete kits are only £20-30, but theres just a ton of them.

Pretty much anyting in the £30 rainge is going to be crappy but there is a set of Creative 2.1 Speaker's for £25 that will do the job.

Those are the exact ones I've been looking at. Also the A320 but it seems the A250 is a tad "better", or at least a better puchase considering they more or less have the same pricetag.

I guess its gonna be those then, unless someone believes theres a kickass improvement in just another £5 or so, but honestly I cant be bothered to browse anymore myself. :D

Im gonna add another post because I ended up browsing for a second and came across these things:
RMS Speakers
Speakers thats 50% off

The first link, what is required to get them to play on her PC?
And the second one, simply because its 50% off, but I dont know anything about the brand. Has good reviews though.

Re your first link; They are referring to a 3.5mm (mini) stereo jack plug socket (usually the green one on the back of her pc). And you will probably require a spare mains socket near by to power them.

Hope that helped :)

The speakers in your second link appear to be powered from a usb socket on the pc (you certainly won't get much clout out of them) !

Thanks for the reply. A green jack and a socket shouldnt be a problem. In regards to the 2nd link, I simply figured based on the 9x5 star review and its "regular" price that it was something worth looking at, but I guess it makes sense for USB power not to be able to output as much.

Ended up with the Ricco T2102. I dont know the brand, but it seems to be alright among others. Only thing I find odd is that it has 12W. 12W seems quite little for some medium sized desktop speakers... But then again im no expert with Watt and how much it really is. Cant find any video with it, but I hope she'll be happy with it. :)

Total 150W PMPO, 12 Watts RMS.

You say 'only 12' but most TV speakers are only about 10 watts maybe 20 and some can be slightly half acceptable... I mean they do the job for 90% of people and generally in a bigger environment than PC speakers.

Either way, to late to change my mind now, they're ordered. Gonna be some days before she gets them, but I will return with her experience.

She was VERY happy with the speakers. She said she could make the room shake, and was very amused with the bass/treble control, as opposed to the simple desk speakers she had before.

Overall it was a really good choice. ^^
