That's some serious system...
Not sure about the ram, you might wanna consider water cooling just to top up that awesome system, that would solve the ram problem too :P HAF X is a great case, I have one myself with a Rampage IV Extreme too :P I would have gotten the CM Storm Trooper if you could have though (cant get it in Iceland)...
Also, have you seen the 3930K review from Tom? I recommend it, it seems that you don't really gain much by going from 3930K to a 3960X except for the much lighter wallet...
Well... hope that helped.
I'd really go with watercooling though ;)

Scrap the 3960X and go for a 3820 if you want to go down the x79 route. You did say this will be for gaming so the extra cores and threads will not improve gaming performance. You could also go down the 1155 route and grab a 3570K/3770K as they will be more than sufficient for a gaming rig.

Unless you will also be doing a lot of editing/rendering and you failed to mention that in the OP. In that case grab the 3930k as mentioned above as there is virtually no difference between that and the 3960X apart from the extra wad of cash you will be wasting :p. With the money you save from that you can grab a larger capacity SSD :D.

Regarding the RAM you could maybe grab the Muskin Blackline as I am using some with my NH-D14.

Think there's some great advice from yassarikhan786 there. You could maybe also use the extra cash you save on not getting the 3960X and go for custom watercooling? I know when I have the funds I'd very much like to give it a try!

If you do stick with air though I can second the Mushkin Blackline, I also use it under a NH-D14 and I've never had any problems with it.

This question has been posted twice (also in the new build advice section). Mod to close this one?

And yea I agree with the above posts. Even a 3820 is really pushing what you need. i5 z77 would be much better. Also 670s are almost as good as 680s for a lot less.

I will go for z77 instead of x79 if its only for gaming. But if you really want x79 go for 3820, is wast of money buying 3960x just for gaming, anyway I think that there is no really big difference between 60x and 30k.
