just finished switching over to the antec 300 and the PC doesn't power on. My P5K-e has a little green LED to show power but when I press the power button nothing happens, i've checked the 24pin, 8pin, graphics card (pc beeped at first) and the power button connector. when i press the power the psu fan spins for like 0.01 second and nothing happens.

stupid pos. hardly any room in there so its quite difficult

Third time I have heard this issue on this forum in quite a short while :/ Well at least I hope.

Try taking everything out of the case and then booting it. Make sure nothing shorts when you boot it.

hmm are you getting any red letters msg on the screen when you boot it? something like you described happened to me when i took my mobo out of the case to clean; only one of the leds was green and all the others red, i had to take everything apart and reset the mobo (take out its batery) and after that it worked, i still dont have a damm clue of what happened at first :wiggle::wiggle:

little edit - also when that happened to me i had that beeeeeeeeeep sound making me crazy...

just plugged the 24pin into the bridging tool and still nothing powers on then, so i think my psu might be fried :( but it still gives power to the mobo =/

Have you tried what soap said? Remove the battery and leave it out for a few minutes. Then put it back in and let it attempt to post.

Also unplug anything you don't need. Only put one stick of RAM in, one HDD etc. Sometimes USB devices can cause strange problems also so unplug those to start with.

yeah i did the battery thing didnt work, i then unplugged the HDD and it worked so then I put the HDD connector back in and it started to smoke =/, I must of mixed the wires around, but I plugged the 24pin back into the mobo, tried to power and i saw red :D meaning everything started up (got red fans) then it died again.. so i'm gonna leave the psu to cool down or something for half an hour and try again.

right another update, i think its my hard drive, not my dodgey wiring, i had it all working until i plugged the hard drive in with the power connector that came with the psu and it started to smoke again.

it's not the hdd either :) my psu is modular and i think slot 2 and 3 are busted, as slot 1,4 and 5 are fine as i just plugged my hdd power into slot 5 and it works.

doesn't post now D=

Do you still have all 4 sticks of RAM in? If so take 3 out and leave one it. Your BIOS will most likely have been reset and will require the DRAM voltage to be increased from 1.8v to 2.0/2.1v (whichever crucial recommend) and a slight increase to your Nb voltage also.

i reset the cmos with only 1 gig in then tried to boot but it wouldnt post again. really starting to peeee me off now. Just been reading about and people with same problem said it could be a fried CPU, not my poor Q6600 :'(

tried the quad on my brothers pc and that booted fine, although i am a tad stressed atm i've forgotten if I tested his E2180 on my motherboard, 75% sure I did and it didnt POST. Dead motherboard?

hmm wait some time then mate, get the mobo off everything and let it alone for some time, like you said you already ****ed with this problem :D (and yeah those things suck =/).

also good news that you cpu isnt fried.

something that is bugging me dude, is that it worked w/o the hd and then it didnt again :o you are probably right about the dead mobo though :(

i just had a HDD go bye bye and it caused me all sorts of problems with trying to boot(damm thing still is a bugger to start even with a different drive, but its a DFI so meh.....),are you sure its not drive related

tried with and without hdd and optical dont work.

rast yeah i know. i'll take it apart tomorrow and find out like it's the fans or something xD

Took it all apart today and I found out that one pin is bent on the motherboard, yes one pin is bent and nothing works, so i'm going have to get a RMA on the motherboard, oh and my HDD has died aswell. FFS.
