Hi all,

I am seeking some help picking a cpu for my new build, the purpose of this build will be video/photo editing and playing few games such as Witcher 3 and BF1 across three 4k monitors.

The cpus i am considering is either a i7 7700k or a i7 7820x i plan on running this with watercooled gigabyte 1080ti in sli.

If someone could help me pick the correct cpu for my purpose would be much appreciated.

If I were you I'd consider getting an R7 1700 as it will be much better at the photo and video side of things since it has 8 cores 16 threads and won't cost as much as Intels offerings either

R7 1700 if you want to upgrade now, but I'd wait for coffee lake and see what it offers.

Intels are best at low resolution to prevent CPU bottlenecking.

At 3x4k? I would not buy Intel. It's a total and complete waste of money. Even at 4k I would not buy Intel, given the tests I did between a fully overclocked 3970x @ 4.9ghz and then at 1.1ghz when my motherboard died. There's just going to be no value there at all really, especially not when you consider that you can get a high end X370 board...

And Ryzen 1700

For £460 and some small change. £90 less than a 7820x.

For video editing Ryzen makes up some ground with its superior multi threading, so it actually becomes quite close there.
