HELP!! ati card keeps killing the comp

i rece3ntly bought an unused ati rage 128 gl from ebay. gl games work fine under the xp drivers from the ati site, but games that run below directx 8.x lock up the entire computer, forcing a manual reboot. can someone offer an explanation or any alternative drivers ( all releases of the ati drivers for xp have this problem, while the windows driver work, but isnt that good for gaming)

Only thing I can suggest is getting the stripped down ATI drivers...can't recall what they're called tho

i'm runnign this odl card because its the closest thing to a radeon that was cheap that was agp2x :damn: you'll be thankfull to hear that i'm no longer goign to trouble you with matters that are in the past. i'm saving up for a new 64bit system
