Hello all, New to OC3D, Building new puter and I blame TTL :)

Hello all,

As the post says... I'm new to the forum and I'm building a new computer.

I've been watching a lot of TTL's videos on computer builds and basically got the itch to build one myself.

I got the urge to build a new puter after I watched TTL's video on the Gigabyte Assassin G1 Project Build (What a slick and sick machine!!!) Great work Tom!

I had full intentions of going with the same exact build but wanted to go something less expensive than the $1600.00 Mobo/CPU combo. I changed my mind tho and wanted to go with something more practical as I didn't want to take out a second mortgage to build it. That and due to the new gear possibly coming out with the z68 chipset and Bulldozer stuff. (easier to justify replacing $700.00 mobo/cpu combo versus $1600.00)

This is what I have planned so far, and my of my pieces and parts are based mostly from what I've seen from TTL's vids...

Mobo: ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME (REV 3.0)

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz

RAM: 8Gb G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3-1600 F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM

SSD1: OCZ 120 GB Vertex 3 SATA III 6.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch SSD for OS

SSD2: OCZ 240 GB Vertex 3 SATA III 6.0 Gb/s 2.5-Inch SSD for Game Storage (both Vertex 3's on order)

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Music and Movie Storage (went with this versus the Samsung F3 due to WD's 5 year warranty versus Samsung's 3 year warranty.

Graphics Card(s): 3x EVGA GTX580 FTW Hydro Copper 2 Yeap, Going Tri SLi, Baby!

Case: CoolerMaster HAF-X RC-942

Power Supply: Corsair AX1200

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit (do I want Ultimate?)

Media: LITE-ON Blu-ray Burner with 3D Playback

Monitor: Apple Cinema Display 30" (from my old setup) I always run in 2560x1600. I would eventually like to go with triple display

Well, that's my not so quick Hello

Welcome! What do you plan on doing for cooling?

Although tri-sli is great for the epeen, I'd recommend only going sli. For the extra cost, it's not worth it imo and could actually cause issues in some games.

Be sure to post up a build log when you get around to building.

Considering youve got GPU's down with waterblocks what watercooling are you going to use?

I was going to go with the XSPC Rasa 750 RS360 Kit http://www.frozencpu.com/products/1...adiator_Water_Cooling_Kit_Hot_Item.html#blank you featured on one of yer vids Gigabyte Assassin G1 Project Build Review Part One Watercooling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3i9EV3P9gQ&feature=relmfu

but ended up going a different route after I started surfing the web.

To answer your question; Koolance RP-452X2 Dual 5.25" Reservoir for 1-2 PMP-450/S Pumps w/ the RS 360 & RS140 Rads and EK Waterblocks EK-Supreme HF Universal Socket - Acetal+Nickel - Rev 2 for the CPU.

I simply fell in love with the look of the EK-FC Bridge TRIPLE Parallel GPU water block.

I've attached my shopping list so far in the photo below.

I have to give credit where credit is due... It was love at first sight when I saw Septro's water cooling build http://www.overclock.net/water-cooling/951407-buildlog-dont-hassle-haf-x-updated.html

Mad Props to Septro's vision of what he did with his build, imo, it looks absolutely bonkers!

I have all the main puter parts ordered with the exception of the Water Cooling Package. I ordered the 6 Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 fans after I saw the XSPC build you did

With that said, I'm open for suggestions to get this rig tweeked proper!

Welcome! What do you plan on doing for cooling?

Thanks! It will be a hybred of XSPC Rads, Koolance Res, Swiftech pumps, and EK waterblocks for CPU and GPU

OOPS! Already ordered the 3 EVGA GTX 580 FTW Hydro Copper 2's

I was freaked out by the thought of ripping apart a GTX 580 SC and putting a water block on it. I figured the route I went, although more pricy (about $100.00 + the costs of water blocks and backing plates) it would still be under EVGA lifetime warranty.

Will do

You dont have enough rad space to cool 3x 580s mate.

OH NO!?!?!

Suggestions?

Septro installed a 3rd rad on the back of his case... he eneded up going with a RX240 off the back.

Since I purchased the 6 fans I was going to do a push/pull on the 360

and btw, thanks for taking the time to reply. Always looking forward to your new vids so that I may learn something

You would need more than an RX360 just for the GPU's fella, and a pump like the DDC 18w Ultra.

As soon as you start adding to a WC loop it gets complicated and expensive to do it RIGHT.

Water for me is cool and quiet. Not full of noisey fans with crap temps.

You best get your wallet ready or you will end up with a rig that looks terrible tbh.

Ok, searching for the DDC 18w Ultra now

Well... I guess if money was meant to be held onto, God would have put handles on it

Thanks for the headsup

Heya Mate, i finally got her put together. Here's a link to my build log http://www.overclock.net/water-cooling/1014027-buildlog-haf-x-4-rads-14-a.html

DSCF0424.jpg

4 Rads - 1 RX360, 1 RX240 and 2 RX120's

Idle temps are 28c-29c

As it's my first attempt at water cooling.. I'm not used to stress testing it to find out what the load temps are. I'm still learning. I did a Future Mark 11 and I don't think my temps got over 45c
