Hey fellow Member's,

I recently purchased a second hand LG 32" Tv the tv has a DVI slot but no HDMI slot, which is frustrating to say the least. Well here's my problem i would like to use it with my laptop (Lenovo U410) my laptop has a HDMI slot, so what i've done so far is Connect a Hdmi cable to a Hdmi-Dvi adapter to connect it to the Tv and it works but there's no Sound  is there any way i can get sound to the Tv from my laptop any help would surely be appreciated massively!

Thanks!

Don't put urgent, we're not a helpdesk.

DVi is video not audio and video, thats your problem. If you had a DVI to hdmi cable then you'd be fine I think, to quote Wikiped:
Since 2008, PC manufacturers have gradually upgraded the PC's controller to support HDMI-output in addition to DVI. Due to electrical and pin compatibility between the DVI and HDMI, only a simple passive adapter (or DVI-D to HDMI cable) is necessary in order for the PC to output HDMI to a compatible HDMI-display (such as a television), and take advantage of HDMI features (such as audio output.)

DVI can carry audio signal but it needs to be put back through to hdmi to make use of it. Can you not use a 3.5mm audio cable between your laptop and TV?

You'll probably need a 3.5mm jack to twin RCA ( red, black ) and connect the 3.5mm to your laptops headphone out put, then the twin RCA to the TV's input. Or if you've got pc speakers just use them as you would normally.

Thanks for the Help Guys, Dalewakelin how would i run the 3.5mm audio cable from my laptop to my television Isn't both Outputs of audio ?

Edit: Ahh i see thank you Paulstung!
