HDD/SSD Benchmarks

So, as I was helping my friend with his laptop, I made him install a piece of software which scans for bad sectors. Turns out, he has hundreds of the things, but that's not what interested me most. The software had an option to run benchmarks on the drive; how could I resist?

So far, I've only ran it on my laptop, but here are the results:

Not too bad, for an ageing 2.5" drive.

Shall follow up with the results from my SSDs in RAID0.

I'm just interested to see how everyone fares, and how the drives actually stack up to their apparent speeds.

Click here to download the software.

It shows that you live in Arctic conditions, or that your SSDs temperature sensor is a little off.
It also shows that your M4 is a damn site faster than my laptop's HDD :)

At first, everything looks great for my SSDs:

Until I ran the same test as 'Smurf:

Damn. That Vertex 4 is fast. Would be interested to see how M4s/830s stack up here, with Smurf's test.

God damn. Ok, for your next trick, Intel 520? :D
I would still favour the 830 from your results, as I care more for reads than writes.

They're not my results friend, I'm just googling and posting the images :)

And you can't only look at sequential, you gotta take the other numbers into account too.
