HD 6850 = GTX 260

Hi,

My bro has a phenom x3 8400 clocked at 2.5Ghz and 4GB ram:

Well he had a GTX 260 and played a game Age of conan and got about 10-29fps on high DX10 now hes upgraded to a HD 6850 thats OC to 850Mhz core, 1200Mhz memory, and gets the same fps maybe a 2-3fps boost.

as far as i can tell the HD 6850 should easly beat the GTX 260 or could the cpu be bottle necking it?

TBH, the 6850 is the 5750 replacement, it's meant to be mid range, so the FPS sounds about right, while the 6870 is closing in on the 5870 power. The CPU will hold it back in certain games but not too many.

A 6850 is the 5850 replacement even though the 5850 overclocks better they are the same at stock give or take 2 or 3 FPS.

Something is wrong if your 6850 is only performing as well as 260.

This site doesn't let you compare a 260 with a 6850 but as I said the 5850 is the same performance wise.

Yea think it maybe the cpu as age of conan is a cpu intensive game looked at some CPU benchmarks for the game and the phenom 8750 only got 29fps which is close to me whilst with the same GPU a intel quad core got 45fps

gonna get a 960T and OC to 3.5Ghz maybe more if the crap cpu coolers hes got can take it.

Yehh... it looks like the Cpu is bottlenecking the cards.
