have a laugh at my expense

it was the death of my daughter and also the consequence of breaking my back a few years back that was the start of my increasing obesity.

i was always fit when i was a youngster: i ran my first full marathon at the age of 13; i played rugby for my town and county; i ran cross-country for newport; i was in the army for 9.5yrs (airbourne) where i was BOAR orienteering champion for 3yrs consequetively; after leaving the army i had my own construction & home improvements company. i was extremely fit.

but... with my back injury and depression... the pounds soon piled on :(

i once said to a mate - "if i ever get fat, shoot me!". i think he may have pre-emptively bought a gun - lol

i know how to train, and i know how to eat healthily. i used to do it all... and i have bought a home-gym too. but, the hard bit is getting rid of all the blubber that the past decade of laziness has wrapped me in. i am getting there faster than i thought i would too. it is easier to put it on than it is to lose it!

it will not be long before everyone will be even more amazed ;)

i do not want to be a bodybuilder - i just want my pecs and abs back ;)

thanx again for your kind words and support

Well if anything would set you off on a trend those two would. Hard times. You've got everything going for you though. I can't see this being a problem at all!

Dude, just found this thread and loved the heart felt vid - I think you're very brave mate.

I can emphathise with having a bad back and piling the pounds on.

Good for you fella, I like the way you come over...

You have inspired me, I'm going for a bike ride - right NOW!!:)

height: 6ft 2in (i have grown 0.5in since losing the weight, as my spine is not a compacted due to the excess weight and slouch)

i hope this motivates others out there. :D

Great progress, well done!

Weight loss is easy once you put your mind to it, just a small bit of dedication is all that's required. Unless you've got a thyroid problem or something there's no excuse.

I lost about 15kg last year through a simple calorie deficit. The weight fell off me once I started counting calories.

So does anyone have tips on how to GAIN weight as well? :p

I reckon 115 pounds isn't that healthy for an 18 year old guy that's 5'11 tall

if you are suggesting that i do not look my age, then thank you very much.

i do NOT, however, act my age!!! :p

Yeah man, you look healthy!
And I've noticed. Judging from your forums posts I honestly thought you were in your late 20's ;)

^^ could use some weight-gain tips too :p

I'm 18 too and I weigh 155, I was at 130 so I know something about gaining.
I'd suggest :
1. EAT a lot, mostly clean but get your calories up
2. Weight training
3. Taking a mass gainer maybe
4. Eat a little bit more

to gain weight... eat like a sumo wrestler.

eat nothing all day, just drink. (no plain water, no tea OR coffee)

the about 2hrs before bedtime, eat about 4000 calories.

OR,
a 12inch dominoes pizza, and a chinese take away, with chips..... wash it all down with full cream milk.

... the weight will pile on, without giving yourself a heart attack ;)

well, you can try this if you can manage to eat nothing for a whole day. personally I have to eat every 3 hours ( 5 hours max ) or concentration goes down to zero and I start feeling sick and dizzy.

Yeah, I think the eating is the problem. Usually skip breakfast and lunch, grab myself a snack at 4 PM and then dinner at 6 xD

It's just that I'm not hungry but I'd like to weight a tad more
