check your heat in that case. heat seems to kill harddrives quickly.
Also make sure you have your pc on some kind of power regulation. Dirty power will kill a hard drive faster than anything else I have ever run accross. Air conditioning units especially, but any major appliance on the same circuit can do this with or without a normal power supply. Only thing that will protect from this is an online power supply or a voltage regulator (or a new circuit)
