Hail Storm in Brisbane during winter

Hi Guys

These pics were taken on the 19th of May 2005 by a friend, of a fierce electrical storm andf hail stones. The actual hail stone pictures were from CCT in the city centre, and they don't really show you how much hail we had effectively. To try and explain, the hail dump was around knee height all over the city, kind of like snow even though we don't get snow here (sub tropical)...very weird!!! Even the Storey Bridge (Triangular shape lit up in the middle of some of the pics) which links North Brisbane with the South (where I live :D )gets cracked by the electrical storm. Hope you enjoy the pics anyway

Balilu, all our electrical storms are like that and worse with hail bigger than golf balls, and they are usually in late January through February. We don't get any snow either :)

wow the lightning is damn thick   !! we get some hail in malta but 1 hr after it comes it melts and we dont get so much lightning in malta when we get it is usually between the clouds not clouds and ground

Yeah it's impressive to watch, along with feeling your house shake and windows rattle. The hail lasted until the morning, then it was all gone :(

Crikey...skin cancer galore in Malta. Queensland has the highest rate of melanoma in the world I believe, or did have. It's not a figure to be proud of, but Aussie peeps love the beach and the bronzed look.

Our houses are made of all types of materials: timber, brick, besser block, corrugated iron, stone, mud etc etc. Mine's a timber weatherboard house on concrete posts, in the middle of Australia where they mine for opals, they actually build underground it's cooler during the day and warmer at night. The distance from my place to Austin's is about 2,100 kilometres http://www.blue-travel.net/britz/au01re39.htm

wow here in malta you reach side to side in a max of 29 km yes skin cancer galore even here in malta we like the beach well my back was all burnt and now the skin started to peel and as you know the sandals have gaps between them my foot got burnt aswell!!

Ouch!!! That sun burn looks really sore, you need to be very careful not to allow it again mate. Otherwise you may regret it later in life
