h80i or Be quiet dark rock pro 2 cooler?

I think to go with the H80i. Although the pump on the H80i makes it louder aswel, and as maniac said the dark rock pro will make the case look cramped because of its huge heat sink and it will cover up the ram slots.

Also consider that the mounting system for the dark rock pro is crap, its single stage and you need to hold the cooler in place while screwing it firmy from the other side of the mobo, which can be quite a pain.

I would go for h100 if you can mount it, other wise just the h80. However if you are not overclocking much then a coolermaster Evo 212+ is a great cooler.

Go with the H80i with some quiet fans and you'll be alright I have a H100i and the pump isn't noisy, the fans can be when turned up though

It's always possible to get a faulty pump. If you get a good one and it's still loud then just turn the speed down if you're a silent freak.

i got an h80 and i can't hear the pump. mine is on the desk next to me in a prodigy case and i can't hear it at all. no overclock on mine and i got 2 stock bitfenix fans max temps i see are 55c

BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 any day! You will need an extra pair of hands to mount it but no big deal.
It looks great, is super quiet, cools well and very dependable. Have never heard of it failing.. or any other air cooler for that matter... unless you count lapping through the heatpipes or a fan making noise.
CLC have a known history of failures, usually pumps. Not saying they are bad, just not as reliable as air coolers.

what i didn't like about the stock h80i coolers was the fact that at system start they go 100% and they were loud like a jet enginge for 20-30 seconds. i replaced them with nf-p12s from noctua and i never heard a thing.

my troubles with it where that my 3770k went straight to 95 degrees without overclock running prime95.

i just replaced it with a nh-d14 and WITH overclock to 4,2ghz (bluescreened immediately after i set it to 4,5 :( ) it's hottest core is 81. it's running right now and it stays around 69-74-77-70 (after 4 hours).

and: it's quiet like nothing else... :)

Aesthetically, air cooling is preferable in my opinion. however there are many things to consider, like an air cooler of that thermal mass will exert considerably more torsion on the motherboard, they only dissipate the heat inside the case, does have incompatibility issues with high profile ram , and some smaller cases may not even fir the cooler due to height of the unit. given all of that though, you have chosen one of the best air coolers. german built products are almost always impeccable.

I got the DR2 in my rig and it is sensational and super quiet. The DR2 pro would not have fitted in as I have a RAM cooler + hi-profile RAM. Running an OC of 4.2 on prime95 the temps never go above 76 deg. Those guys at BeQuiet make really quiet fans - easily comparable with the Noctua. I think it's 7 heat pipes on this cooler-beast. Plus no chance of pump whine that you can sometimes get with these loops
