Guy Arrested on Isle of Wight for being Racist?

Holy cow, Just heard a news story on the Radio here in the states. You guys that live on the Isle, did you hear about this, or what the deal was?

The report said there is a guy that sings at a bar called "driftwood beach bar" I think it was, He was singing Kung Fu Fighting like he always does, a couple chinese tourists were walking by and heard him singing and reported him for racism, I guess to the cops there.

The report said the cops actually arrested the guy for racism for singing Kung fu Fighting?

Tell me this is not true.

But dont feel bad, the same report said that some university professors here in the states have released a report and suggestions on how we use descriptions of animals, for instance we should no longer use terms like "Drunk as a Skunk" or "Dog tired" etc... because it is degrading to animals. lol. The way things are going, I am sure it will be law soon.

Can't believe that, getting arrested for Singing Kung Foo Fighting, WTF is the world coming to.

As for the degrading animals that is pure loony talk for a start they can't understand human speech so how the F are they meant to be offended or feel degraded by some one using such lines as "drunk as a skunk."

Some times I imagine the world ending up like that film Equalization where all emotion is illegal and all books, art and music is banned.

The radio guy was joking that if we are going to get so dang sensitive over every little thing, the Isle of Wight might have to change its name soon to avoid future lawsuits.

I would not be surprised if that actually happened, it's the same as teachers not being allowed to call blackboards, blackboards or whiteboards, whiteboards anymore in case it offends people.
 
Found the news story online, Looks like He will not be charged thank god.

Looks like the cops figured out the claim of racial abuse was total crap.

A man singing Kung Fu Fighting in a bar was arrested for racial harassment but has not been carged.

The pub singer, 34-year-old Simon Ledger, sang the 1970’s hit song Kung Fu Fighting in the Driftwood Beach Bar in Sandown on Isle Of Wight when a man of Chinese origin apparently took offence.

The 32-year-old man and his mother are said to have walked past the bar during Ledger’s rendition of Kung Fu Fighting and told police that they were "subjected to racial abuse".

“We were performing Kung Fu Fighting, as we do during all our sets," Ledger told the Daily Mail.

“People of all races were loving it. Chinese people have never been offended by it before.

“But this lad walking past with his mum started swearing at us and making obscene hand gestures before taking a picture on his mobile phone.

“We hadn’t even seen them when we started the song. He must have phoned the police.”

Hampshire Police confirmed that Ledger had been questioned by police on suspicion of racial harassment, however, said that the musician would not be charged since there wasn’t enough evidence to prove the assault claims.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: "Anyone who perceives they are the victim of a racially aggravated crime is entitled to make a report to the police.

"We will treat such allegations seriously to provide reassurance for victims and to protect the integrity of appropriate lines of inquiry."

The chart-topping song Kung Fu Fighting was released in 1974, originally sung by Carl Douglas.

 
That is crazy, LMAO if I were the police I would have laughed in his face...... and the police wonder why they have such a bad name in this country, wasting there time on things like this, when there is real crimes (people getting killed etc) go on....
 
Well what else do you expect the police to do it's the isle of Wright there is nothing else to do lol, they are patiently waiting on someone getting mugged so they have something to do lol.

Apparently audio recordings aren't particularly solid evidence in the courts. Videos are different though (i.e. CCTV).
