Hi guys,

I'm having problem with my GTX480 I recon.

Palying Crysis , FEAR or even COD4 MW , quite often, especially in Crysis I'm getting picture stucks (for 1 sec), something like microshootering on SLI setups.

I've tried everything, even reinstalled Windows, same thing.

In Metro 2033 or Battlefield Bad company 2 it is not so bad, I'd say is fine.

What is going on, any ideas?

Yes I've tried overclock it, and It was arterfacting, so I have back to default settings. So assuming ,yes I had issue with card memory.

Is that means card is broke down and I should RMA it?

Yes, tommorow I'll try 8800 GT and we will see.

I didn't pushed to much I think as it was 2000 MHz only , and for maybe 1 minute just I notice arts.

BTW - if card is broken why I'm getting 23k vantage score, there is no artirfacts or what so ever?

Ok guys thanks a lot - 99% it is card - on 8800 GT everything working fine.

Forgot to mention that Crysis on GTX480 had a bug on the first level "contact" - I supposed to meet that guy, he was waiting for me, but he never come out from the rock. Also there was no voice instruction for me, what to do.

Yep I've tried and same thing - ok, card gone , this time I'll gor for GTX460 SLI.

Any particular model that u guys can recommend?

Any model and any version are the same. Stay away from the blower fans though as they're noisy and far less efficient.

Did you test your memory and hard drive? because if not it could work out to be a costly upgrade that doesn't fix the situation.

Make sure with a suspected bad part that you test every single last part of your system before you decide to replace something.

The 1gb isn't really faster per se. It's the exact same card with ever so slightly less memory. It will go a bit faster because of the extra memory but right now that isn't an issue. It will show minimal gains in gaming in SLI because of the way the 460 scales. Thus it's really tremendously difficult to actually advise some one to spend £50+ per card (so £100 in total) when we are talking about serious serious framerates on the 460 768 in SLI.

The 460 768 is a bargain. Possibly bargain of the year thus far (though the 470 is now closing in, as its flaws can be forgiven when it comes in cheaper than a 1gb 460, is FAR faster and has more memory) but sometimes a bargain card can become less of a bargain. What I'm saying is 256mb of GDDR ram ain't worth no £50.

I said this before but hey, worth saying again. By the time those 768mb SLI cards are out of date the 1gb will be woefully out of date also. Get the cheapest 460 768ers you can find with the default cooler with the fan in the middle. Who makes it doesn't count for squat unless you get the MSI with the twin frozr cooler on.

Again though there's no huge point to overclocking SLI 460 as they are so fast nothing you can throw at them can really make them break a sweat. Thus, the overclocks you do put on them may gain you another 10FPS but you won't notice it when we're talking about 80+. Most games are capped at 60 any way, so all that extra heat noise and power consumption is a waste.

Unless of course you use them to fold.
