Hi i show that the GTX TITAN is out in some online store. I want to know is the GTX TITAN any good or should i get it?
I was planing on getting sli what are your thoughts about the GTX TITAN???????????

If you're not going to watercool it don't get it
quite overpriced for the performance you get on air

you need more question marks mate.
the titan is pretty much overkill, but it only makes sense in sli or if you are all about power consumption. else the 690 kills it.

Titan actually uses quite a lot of power. It's much more Fermi than 104, given that it has the kitchen sink bolted to it.

This is why overclocks so far have been a bit lame.

Titan is not worth it IMO, not in any circumstances. It's basically terrible when it comes to £ to performance as you can easily put together a SLI set up that will murder it for around £500. From what I have seen it performs about on par with a pair of GTX 660s in SLI. So £800+ makes it totally unrealistic when it comes to price.

The only thing I could possibly recommend it for is 3x 120hz monitors running 3D in surround, and even then two Titans will struggle with Crysis 3.

for gaming it's stupid to get one. but for other stuff that needs loads of gpu power? 4way sli titan will murder anything besides a k20 card.

Indeed but four way SLI isn't even supported by Nvidia, let alone any one else. IIRC 4 way SLI is pretty much an EVGA thing.

As I said, the only use you could possibly have for two of these is 3D gaming in surround really. At 1080p you would be quite frankly mental to get one.

4 way works fine, its just for benching though.

Technically 4 way anything isnt supported by amd or nvidia

if you hold on Tom is just about to test one so maybe wait for those results?

EDIT : ^^^ and there he is

Why? I've already seen plenty of Titan reviews so I know exactly what it can do. The 690 (and 670 SLI) is 20% at a minimum faster than Titan. At times? they're 50% faster.

Don't get me wrong it's a serious feat of engineering but all it boils down to in the end is a horrifically expensive rebadged server part.

6gb VRAM? I mean really?

If it could beat the 690 it would be worth the price but it can't, and not by quite a long way. Given that the price being gouged by greedy retailers right now is £900 give or take a penny it's just a completely pointless non mainstream card.

If I wanted to spend closing in on £4000 to wave my willy I could think of much better things to buy.

but with better drivers surely the card will get better with time just like the 680, 690 and the rest?

IMO performance hasn't really improved on the 6xx cards really. I've had a 670 since about a month after launch and I've not noticed any drivers that really improve the performance.

Sure in time Titan will probably improve slightly but it won't be as miraculous as the AMD drivers IMO. AMD are relative noobs when it comes to making drivers unlike Nvidia whose drivers have always been pretty good.

Even if the Titan went another 40% faster than it does and conclusively beat the 690 it still would not be worth the money.

Fact is it hardly even comes close to a 690 yet costs £100 more.

As I keep saying the *only* real logical use you could find for Titan is for 3D gaming across 3 screens. And even then Crysis 3 will give it huge problems due to how heavy it is on hardware. A single Titan just about manages a smooth gaming experience in Crysis 3 maxed out, so add 3D and two more screens and I would seriously worry about its ability to keep up.

Well you all here have given good advice as always. So i am building a brand new system would a KFA2 GeForce GTX 680 LTD OC V4 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card ALL WHITEbe good in sli i was thinking of buying two of them for gaming and me be a bit of video editing.

It's easy to get a pair of 680s for less than a Titan and they will absolutely destroy it.

It's actually really odd that I am a believer in SLI because until the 690 I was still very hesitant to recommend it given that it just didn't have the support it should have.

However, times have changed. For quite a while now Nvidia have been relying on it (the 690) as their winning flagship card so have really been putting a lot of effort into making sure SLI works properly. As such it works now more often than not (only issue I had recently was Far Cry 3 and this was a slip up by Nvidia that's now fixed) and as such once again, Nvidia have priced themselves out with their own cards*

*Over the years Nvidia have made quite a few booboos. For example, two 460s in SLI beat a 480 and cost £150 less. Mind you, back then SLI support wasn't as good as it is now. Now? as I said above, the only title I had an issue with was Far Cry 3 and I don't play that any way because it's crap. Mind you, fair play to them the latest driver release has solved loads of multi GPU latency issues and does now work properly with FC3.

Thank you for your advice i will buy two 680s then:cool: I think tom will like the KFA2 GeForce GTX 680 LTD OC V4 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card ALL WHITE.

KFA2 are BFG so the warranty is UK based should you ever need it, and IIRC you can deal directly with them.

The only warranty better IMO is Gigabyte so I would strongly consider the 680 Windforce as it comes with a three year UK based warranty.

I guess it all depends on how long you were planning to keep them.

Well the kfa2 website is down not very good. Their gpu looks very nice

a good looking gpu what do you think?????????
I am thinking of buying it but i plan on keeping this for me be 2 years i think this would look good in my cm storm stryker white case.

Personally the best bang for your buck from Nvidia is 670 sli. They will perform 90% as good as 680 sli and are cheaper. Plus 2 670's will out perform 1 titan. With the money you saved with the 670's you could water cool them too.

That white card imo looks shite. White pcb and tacky looking white fans. Just not my style if I am honest.

May i ask HD 7990 or GTX 680 what would you advice????????

Bit different isn't it?

7990 = fastest single PCB (yet dual GPU) card available. You sure you didn't mean the 7970?

Any way yes, a very very quick card but prone to driver issues as Crossfire is not supported as well as SLI.

But having said that when it does work it will beat a 690 hands down. When it works, of course.

680 is completely different. Single GPU on a single PCB, SLI works with more games than Crossfire.

Pays your money, makes your choice I guess.
