Nvidia's Maxwell based GTX 960 has just had it's specifications confirmed online. It also looks like it will be a great overclocker.

Read ore on the GTX 960 Specifications here.

With 2gb memory and 128bit bus this card is really an overpriced one and simply too weak as a high/mid range vga in 2015 and i can't understand what was the delay for. I thought we get 3/4 gb 256bit vga what is 30% weaker than the 970 for max 200$, but we get this and it will cost more than 255 EURO in my country so it's a fail vga.

I would be interested to know how this falls in with the 760 more than their comparison to the 660. Is the comparison made due to low numbers of 760 sales or something? Or maybe it is only incrementally better (stock) than the 760 but much better on power consumption?

So really, it's worse than a 760  I'm glad I sold my 760 before the 960 hype arrived but I wouldn't be upset if I still owned it. 256-bit bus, 4GB, 1152 Cores and it was dead happy to sit at 1300MHz all day long. This is gonna have to be stupendously efficient or cheap to make any sense at all.

Yeah I'm on a 760 now but this article didn't really make me want to upgrade at all when I read it on Videocardz yesterday and PMed WYP the link ;)

even if the performance is decent, the memory will hold it back and the inevitable 4gb version will cost too much.

AMD won't need to do that much to stay ahead in the budget sector it seems.

Should make for an interesting entry-level 1080p gaming card, depending on the price.

2gb vRam is fine for such a card at 1080p - I still run 680's with 2gb vRam yet have managed to "max" games that reportedly need more than that without any obvious issues. A few titles launched recently have proven to be FAR less demanding of vRam than initially reported.

Additionally, I was wondering how well that "half speed" 128 (vs. 265) bit bus will cope? Again, at single monitor 1080p settings I expect it'll be fine. My 680's usually show now more than 40-50% peak memory controller load, which suggests the 256bit bus isn't saturated. A 128bit might run maxed out more, but should hopefully cope. Obviously this is all subject to bus (2.0 or 3.0) and number of lanes of course. It looks from the picture that these GPU's are not meant for SLI unfortunately.

Needless to say this is not going to be a card for 1440/1600p/4k or tri-screen gamers, but doubtless it'll have its place.

I guess we'll see once the cards are in the hands of testers.

Scoob.

As energy efficient as Maxwell is, they really have brain farted with this card, it uses the very same dual 64bit memory controllers as the 750Ti.. talk about bad recycling.

I thought originally when they released the 750Ti they'd suddenly start doing decent budget cards...

evidently not.

Not very impressed with the specs. Then again, if the price is right, it could be a good contender for those on a budget who are a little frightened to get into overclocking and need a newly efficient card to tempt them into giving it a shot.

Read up a bit on this... Looks like an absolutely joke imo. AMD's offering, the R9 280 is already as fast AND IS 2 YEARS OLD. Not to mention its the same price or maybe even cheaper at launch and will most likely be more future proof due to higher bus and memory! God knows what will happen to this when the R9 370X or whatever it's competitor will be called comes out.

Fail nvidia... No one cares that it uses 50w less power than the R9 280. That only matters for really low end cards (like the 750ti) so you can stick them in any shitty dell pre-built with the worst PSU known to man, or really high end cards so you can go for multi-GPU setups without having to fork out for a crazy expensive PSU. People in the mid range will have at least 430W PSU anyway since you basically can't buy lower than the Corsair 430 anymore.... which is more than enough for even a 980 atm.

Guys it's just a 960.. wha'd you expect? They'll release a 960ti that's better.. If they were smart at least. 960 to 970 is quite a big jump.

Well as i see it now it will be only ~15-20% cheaper(atleast in my country) than the 970 and 40% weaker +half the memory and the bus. I still think this vga should called 950ti and not 960 and should cost 25-30% less to be competitive.
