GTX 780 SLI Flicker

hi there don't no if it helps I run 2 gtx 780 sc acx in sli and I had the flicker at first what I did was run driver sweeper completely uninstalled all NVidia has was told even if you do fresh install they leave bits of NVidia behind so was advised to run driver sweeper then I downloaded latest driver and installed and was perfect for me it may help but all I can say is what worked for me

This is probably the best advice so far... get the drivers cleaned off properly and re-install them properly too.

From my expierence i just go to device manager and go to my "display adapter" and completely uninstall from there, restart then install new drivers. Never had a problem.

Hi Guys

Sorry for my delayed reply. I shall give the driver sweeper a go and make sure I give it a good clean.

Supplier (Novatech, just down the road) support is a bunch of poop and what me to send back all my parts for testing which would mean no PC for a week, they have not made me a happy chappy.

My advice. Never go back to them again. And better yet do not send it back to them. They will do whatever they want with the system and who knows what they put on it or take off.

Well.....to start INMHO you have a very rare resolution config!! you have 2 1920 x 1080p and 2560 x 1440p mix up!! right now the card dosn´t know which resolution should deliver to you...!! ;) try to clone them all to 1920 x 1080!

huh? i've been running two screens with different resolutions for ages and i know more than a few people who use screens with different resolutions.
cru3l has a 1440p monitor and two 1080p monitors + 780 sli and he never got any problems like these, i don't think this is a monitor issue.
it sounds like a driver issue but then this issue should apply to other people as well, the only thing that seems reasonable is a bad card.

So... I tried driver sweeper last night and another driver reinstall and looked promising for a while and then the dreaded flicker returned grrrrr.

So I am arguing with Novatech at the moment that sending my cards and motherboards for five days is just unacceptable for me and I'd rather have it all swapped out or refunded. Which wouldn't be so bad just go get the black edition and some 780Tis lol

I've used Novatech for years as just down the road so I just go get it rather then trust Parcelforce to deliver from them as they Parcelforce always fail

Yeah just arguing with them now to refund them without having to wait for a week for them to do all their testing. I've been in contact with ASUS and they suspect they are faulty and to get them RMA through the retailer which I've told Novatech

Update:
So I have beaten them into submission and going to swap out my parts on Friday #Winning. Finally may have a resolution to my annoying flicker. Will be in Portsmouth doing a bit of shopping as well

Update:
Video of the flicker

I too have a flicker with gtx 680 in SLI. I bought a new SLI cable but that didn't affect it at all.

I think it's a software/driver issue though. I've had my setup for over a year. Last week the flicker happened once every few hours. I reinstalled 8.1 the other day and now I get a flicker every 5 minutes. I just live with it, though every 5 minutes is starting to test my patience.

So I have had the cards and may ther board replaced and slowly working with Asus to find out what the problem is in the software but it is just taking for everr.

Fix

I think I have a fix
I to have flickering I think the problem is that the cards have different core clocks I tried to set the same core clock on my gpus and the flickering disappeared

my system
i7 3820
asus 780 2 way sli
8gb of corsair vengeance

I fixed my SLI flicker. All of my monitors were plugged into card 1. I moved them all to card 2, because it's the only thing I haven't tried. Problem solved! I'm not sure if this is indicative of a hw defect in the card or perhaps the mobo's PCI channel, or just driver quirks- but it doesn't matter. I get a huge framerate boost with SLI where supported, so if there is some sort of hw defect relating to video out on card 1, it isn't impacting my performance and therefore it's a non-issue. I also recently found out that the flicker was coinciding with DPC latency spikes in the nvidia driver- though one would happen without the other sometimes. This problem is also gone now. I also had an oddly specific issue that is now cured- metro apps and the start screen would have a noticeably low fps on the center monitor (of three monitors) and only the center monitor, and only while the center monitor was primary, and only when some program was using the gpu while on the rightmost monitor. Holy headache that problem drove me insane.

Unfortunatly issue occurs no matter what card I try my monitors in :(

Try connecting the 1080p monitor´s in to the 2º card and then, leave the 1440p in the 1º card?
as i said before you have 2 1920 x 1080p and 2560 x 1440p mix up in one card!! right now the card dosn´t know which horizontal definition should deliver to you...!! I hope this helps! ;)

Yes it works like that but that is only because you can't set SLI to maximise 3D performance on the 1440p monitor without no display showing on the 1080p monitors. SO yes it works but not the right setup for me.

oh.....ok!! you should sell the 2 1080p or the one 1440p and have all the monitores delivering all the same horizontal definition and then you can maximise the 3D performance or putting all the monitors delivering 1080p, not forgetting to keep the conexions the way that i told you before! the cards are ok! i insist that is a horizontal definition incompatibility!

I have tried with just the 1440p monitor on its own and flickers occurs. I pulled out one of my old 1080p monitors so I was running three and still had an issue occurance. If it was to do with a horizontal or vertical resolution differsnce you would see the flicker occur on maybe the 1440p or only on 1080p monitors not inconsistently across one to all three of them
