i was looking for either 670 or 7970... after viewing everyones post to get the 7970... i see why not. its cheaper and higher memory. just waiting for the right time to buy!
Both cards have games that each will show better performance with. If the game uses PhysX then the nVidia cards perform better.
In my experience of playing with both makers cards. I've found settling up SLI easier than crossfire. In general I've found it easier to configure any of my nVidia cards than my Ati cards.
I've also notice that many video encoding programs are unable to make proper use of the Ati's encoding methods, leaving one using software only. I've found very good support the the vNidia Cuda Core encoding and decoding in all programs.
Ok, so I am not a GPU person by any means. How would the GTX670 FTW+ run with that res? Or is it pointless to get the FTW+ version. I was looking to get that card, but thought I would ask. I dont plan on getting that res right now, but def in the future.
Both cards though are very very good though. I personally have a 670ftw and a second in a box waiting to come out and I game at 1440 with no problems AT ALL so either way it a good piece of kit that comes down to brand preference or which free games you prefer
Personal preference... 7970 Might have a few more fps here and there, but I'd still get the 670. Don't know why though, but the one I had performed flawlessly and now runs in my brother's PC with aftermarket cooler cool and quiet.
I'm intrigued as to why everyone says the 7970, the results look very similar (GTX 670 beats the 7970 in a few games). Whats the thinking behind the 7970 being superior?
because the majority of results are out-dated before the major driver release. The 7970 is no longer wasting its time competing with a 670. That's the 7950's job now
