GTX 560 Ti or GTX 570?

Ello all,

My HD 4870 is starting to age (presumably, the gaming machine hasn't been on for months..) and I feel it is time for an upgrade, with Crysis 2, Battlefield 3 (

) and other good games I would like to play this year. So, new graphics card then!

2 options I think, 560 or 570. Now I am rather skinto so I am inclined to go for the 560 Ti, but is the difference in performance/thermals between a vanilla 570 and say the MSI Frozr II 560 Ti a huge gap?

Selling some of my old Warhammer so might have between £200-£350 (sadly not all can get spent on a graphics card, apparently cars NEED new tyres) from sales, but I am just looking for some advice. It would not be getting the water treatment as its too much hassle, would a 570 cook itself in a TJ07 without a side intake fan? I know there are alot more aftermarket coolers for the 560, so I really am a bit stuck, any input would be good.

Oh and my monitor is currently 2048*1152 but planning perhaps a lovely Dell ISP (1920x1080?) so those resolutions are what I would *like* to game on.

Cheers guys!

Edit: Oh for that matter, I hear the HD6950/6870 are not as good as the nVidia counterparts hense leaving them out, but I am all ears incase someone can tell me otherwise

560 is at a good price and does well in most games. However, I would hold off a little while as there is a war a brewing. Seems the GPU Titans are going to go head to head with each other over the crown of the fast single card GPU. So with the ATI/AMD 6990 and the GTX 590 coming out, it should drive down the prices on their respective lines.

Like you, I'm in the market for a new GPU to replace and old sagging GTX 8800. I want the best bang for my buck. While I like the price of the GTX 560, I want a little more umph. I have a little more coin than you but I'm waiting to see what happens in the next couple of months with the GPU wars.

Hope this helps.....
