GTX 465 or GTS 250

I'd actually be willing to hazard a bet that within 6 months the 460 will be down to 5770 prices.

well the 460 is ot that far off 5770 prices anyway about £20 difference for a reference 460 (758mb)

and ATI wont hit back IMO (with anothercard anyway) as they have looooads of 5series out,i mean were would it fit into, they may lower the prices but thats it.

also nvidias released details of the gts 450 that might be out by the end of august and that might be cheaper than the 5770 have to wait and see what the performance comparisons is tho

Ok guys I found a gigabyte gtx460 1gb, will that be good enough? I think the price is good enough for this one in my country.

BTW I have an intel dp35dp motherboard, will there be any problems at all? I have read some mothrboards are having problems with this video card.

You should be fine fella. You going to join our folding team btw? Youll have the gpu for it!

Well guys I just bought my new gigabyte gtx 460 1gb. Everything is ok, what I like the most is the low temperature

But...I still dont feel a great difference between my gt 8800, Im still laging at starcraft II with ultra settings, I dont know if that is my cpu fault (core2duo) or maybe I need a fresh install of my OS. Any suggestions?

BTW what is the folding team?

Which Core 2? how much ram do you have? etc.

I don't play Starcraft but Ultra settings sounds like something you would need something more like a 5870 or 470 for?

Also, what OS are you using?

you would be best to go with a gtx460

if you are running ANY video transcoding apps, CUDA apps, or are running dual monitors....i would highly recommend you go with the 2gb version of the 460....Palit has one out now (I have a pair of them). If you could stand to wait for Gigabyte to release the 2gb version of their 460, it would be worth it. The Palit cards I have are flimsy in their construction. The Gigabyte cards are non reference PCB's, much sturdier, and offer a SUBSTANTIALLY better cooling solution

If SC2 is lagging with a 460, then something else is wrong....sc2 is by no means a demanding game

I was able to run Crysis Warhead at max settings, with a single 2gb 460 and it was still playable....granted not fantastic...but playable

SC2 should run fine, maxed out with much less of a card then the 460

it is possible that another card is causing conflicts....

is your 460 installed in the FIRST PCIe slot on the mobo?

have you tried everything at stock settings? (no o/c)

are your drivers the latest revisions possible?

what o/s are you using?

nope i was playing it at MAX settings at 1920*1080 with no issues what so ever it was very smooth
