ok so i upgraded from a 9600gt to a gtx 460, i put the new card in and connected it to the psu , i still have only the 450 watt psu but it says thats the minumum so i expected it to at least start, although it doesnt even register with my monitor,so i put back in my 9600 gt and uninstalled the drivers i had for it cause i was told to try that by a friend,but its jsut the same thing, my monitor jsut goes into stand by cause it doesnt even register its connected, its not the monitor because it works fine with my 9600gt and i use the same DVI lead, so do you think theres a problem with the card or its just the psu, (i am upgrading it just not for a while)

psu cant handle it i think. same problem i had when i had the stock psu on my lenovo and i installed a gtx275. xD

Hello,
Maby this'll help/work. I don't know, maby, you can try. if your motherboard has a built in graphics chip, install the 460. the motherboard will have a socket to plug in the monitor, at the I/O area, where the USB ports etc are, at the back of the case. Plug in the monitor to the motherboard, boot the computer and it should display properly. In the window's start menu go to control pannel, navigate to the device manager(hardware section), click display adapters, there I think it'll give info on the 460's status
I had 2 ATI Powercolor HD 4730's failed. The first the fan became faulty, the second didn't display out of the box, like your 460
Electricity Ampage requirements on the 400's is high. old PSU's probably dont supply the demand. The minimum Ampage requirement is written on the box

I have never seen a 450w psu with 2 pci express power cables so let me guess your using the molex adaptor to a 6 pin basically by a better psu harsh as that is it cant take the load.

Did you attach both power connectors? First time mine didn't work for some unknown reason and then second time it didn't work because Asus only included one adapter, so I assumed it'd work without a second one.
Complete waste of a site my advise is NOT to use it at all !
didn't touch a thing on that site but you need 34W already
