GTX 280 or the new x2 ati/amd offering?

I will writing a review of an XFX GTX280 soon and the cards it will be up against?

It. Just. Got. Interesting. :D

Do you by any chance have a 45nm dual core? I was thinking about ordering the e8600 tomorrow and those puppys seem to run at ~4.5 jigga hertz...

People keep banging on about choking the X2. Since 99% of games are single thread I figure the higher clocked dualy will do better than a lower clocked quad (duh, Captian Obvious to the rescue!). I just want to see some no.'s to confirm...

Webbo - are you still looking for another GX2? ;)

Ha ha getting tempted Smithy?

Did you get a chance to read those reviews?? How did the GX2 compare to the X2? It wasn't one of the comparisons I was looking at.

Also Scan confirmed to me that the Gigabyte card comes with a 2 year RTB warranty with them but they wouldn't say if it has a year with the manufacturer or not. Dunno if they knew.

Availability of it on Dabs has now changed from the 1-2 days and 2-4 days which it's been jumping between for the last 2 weeks, to availability in 1 - 2 weeks :|

They do however have the Sapphire one in at a very low price. Emailed them earlier to see what the warranty on that one is. I hate shops that don't show warranties.

If it's 2 years + then I'll probably just buy it.

Edit: GAAAAAAAAAAAY!! Sold out of it already.. Available in 1-2 days. So that means about 3 weeks.

Ok, had a reply from Dabs a little earlier in the evening.. Haven't been in long so here ya go:

Dear Customer I can confirm the quicklinx: 576SQ2 comes with a 2 years warranty and the quicklinx: 57BLQ2 should be available on the 10/09/08.

Please contact us if we can be of further assistance.

Seems the Sapphire one comes with 2 years from Dabs... That's good considering I think Sapphire only do a year direct to them.

Guess what makes me laugh and cry.....

Went on to dabs this morning to check out stock statuses and they actually had the Gigabyte in stock... So that email I received literally hours before saying they wont have stock until 9th September was total ball bags.

Called Gigabyte to check the warranty on it as I hadn't been emailed back again by Dabs and they said it has a 3 year warranty. Even if Dabs only offered 1 year, they would still take it direct no matter what. Plus from what I can tell, if you have a Sapphire card and it goes tlts up, then you have to send it overseas!! Bugger that!

Figured yay... Go buy one!

Fooking sold out again and now it says 1 - 2 weeks again :mad:

Anyway.. I've strayed slightly off subject here but hey.. Just wanted to share my trauma.

Lol, am i the only one that finds it sarcastic, that people whined for SLI on an intel mb for months, and now its going to happen on the x58, and almost everyone switches to ATI :nutkick:

I go with what's best at the time I need to buy it.. Come next upgrade, if Nvidia happen to be the best then that's fine by me :)

The "Big Bang II" drivers set to be released next month are supposed to remedy this issue.

So the big bang II is not a new card? I thought it will be 55nm GTX... So what will that be?? drivers? end of Septemebr, right?

...ooww... and Hello everyone - new on this forum:):yumyum:

Hiya and welcome to this wonderful forum.

Indeed big bang II is a set of drivers I believe. The new 55nm GTX280 as far as anyone knows is just going to be called that as we haven't heard anything else. The chip on it is supposedly going to be the G200b as opposed to the G200 it is now.
