the way Nvidia have priced the 1080 and 1070 I'd be surprise if these come in below £300
From my source in Taiwan.
The 1060 will probably cost around £300 for the 6gb card. It will probably perform around the same as a GTX 980, not a 970.
I'll also post this from a discussion I had with him earlier. It's good info and he's not usually wrong
1) There is no volume, because TSMC has no 16FF volume. Of Nvidia's allocation from TSMC they'll push weight towards GP104 because that's a better premium. Simply having the 1060 on the market - even out of stock - will deter people from going straight to the 480.
The fact NV have just pulled in the launch ~8 weeks is a huge amount and TSMC has a 3+ month waiting list. AIBs must be spitting fire that they've got to prepare their marketing, boxes, campaigns, sales channels within TWO WEEKS. This is probably why I'm hearing the real to market date is the last week of July for AIBs, not 14th.
So basically what he is predicting is a paper launch just to try and keep 480 sales at bay. It could be months before you actually see real cards in the flesh, although they could be with reviewers long before Nvidia has the volume to actually ship them due to complications with Pascal high end. Obviously Nvidia are far more concerned about producing the high cost parts..
If you look at the old 960 cooler (that was also used on the 760, 670 and various other GPUs) you will see that the 1060 cooler looks a lot better than this.
You will also notice they have used a better quality fan assembly and there is the aluminium accent on the fan also. In other words what I am trying to say is that Nvidia are trying to make it look like a premium part. They won't do that to give you a better card they will do it so they can extract a higher price for it.
Don't expect the 1060 to compete with the 480. It will be up to 20% faster no doubt but it will cost around £300 minimum. Nvidia are not in the market to sell cheap cards. This will be no exception. If you look at the price of a 4gb GTX 960 with the worst looking cooler ever you will see that even that was high 200s. And it was barely faster than the part it replaced (the 760).
TL;DR. Shortened version. Don't expect : 1. The 1060 to be available any time soon or 2: it to be cheap![]()
What else could they compare it with? And EU prices are always higher because of VAT which is up to 19% in some European countries. The problem is that AMD is comparing its NEW gen cards with the last gen cards of Nvidia. Here there is NO 480 that is in the 200-250 euro price range. They are 300 euros.....
Right. And get 3.5Gb of vram and abysmal Dx12 performance. For that price then you just pick up a 970........ that are all selling for cheap.

The comparing thing is really starting to annoy me. Why does everyone think it's bad? There's literally nothing else for them to compare to at the moment. What did you expect? You want to compare it to a 1070? What the heck is the point of that? You know what's going to win, that's not a comparison, that's a biased look at it.
Till the 14th...... Ive got my 1060.
