I've recently bought my first ever Geforce card, only ever used ATI.The card is a Peakhardware geforce 7600gt 256mb 128bit DDR3 PCI-E.After 3 days of system crashes and shut downs i found the problem. The fan was default set to 31% and after 5 minutes of call of duty 4 the temperatures were: GPU 97 degrees C
and GPU Diode 117 degrees C,hence the overheating.Using Rivatuner i've now set the fan to 65% and now my temps are, using PC Wizard 2008:
Idle GPU 53 degree C
GPU Diode 60 degrees C
After 30 minutes of totally beasting COD4 (single player) in a warm room
GPU 69 degrees C
GPU Diode 74 degrees C
My question is are these temperatures ok,normal or too high.Im really paranoid about GPU temps as my last card was a Radeon 9800pro,the fan died i carried on using it and it went bang costing me a new board, chip and graphics card.Any views would be appreciated.BTW my PSU is 550watts 12volts=38A and the Geforce has not been overclocked, its running:Core bus 560mhz Memory bus 650mhz(factory shipping default)
