Gpu temp problems

Hello members.
I have a problem with my gpu.
My specs are:
i5 4460 3.2Ghz
8gb 1600mhz ram
Sapphire R9270x vapor-x 2Gb OC
Some of my games and heaven would crash when i reach 90 degrees Celsius.
I would like to know is it normal for this card to crash and is it normal to reach those temps when fan settings are auto.

Those cards should be running around 70c so yours is way too hot.

It may be an idea to remove the cooler and replace the thermal paste.

It is the middle of summer in South Africa and I know in some areas it can get very hot, do you have high ambient temps?

Yeah, those temps are definitely way too high for that kind of card.

Ambient temps would be great though.

If its not within warranty then just replace the TIM

does they card get sufficient air?
I have an invert case so i would say no but getting the case replace. Got top fan as exhaust in combine with the back fan. And front intake. (sickle flows)

Will try to replace termal paste tonight still. Only have the thermal paste i used on my cpu is it okay?
Ambient air is high 20s.

Out of warranty. Replacing the card is my last option as the card is almost a year (warranty was void due to cleaning.)

I would recommend MX-4 as a thermal paste, easy to use and performs great!
Also those sicleflow fans are static pressure fans aren't they?

Found out a RJ47 resistor is bend. Most probably broken off from the board. I change the thernal paste but things are worst now. For now I'm going to look at repairs shop. Is it possible to remove thermal paste next to the gpu chip?
Also what are the comments on the Asus Strix gtx 960 4Gb?

I cleaned the chip using alcohol but there is thermal paste next to the chip (looks like tje front part of a cpu). I don't know what to call it

Just clean it with isopropyl alcohol or articlean with careful and patience, you should be able to remove most of the paste that are surrouding the chip. Try using a swab with alcohol and a microfiber cloth.

The area between the chip and raised border but I'm looking at the asus gtx 960 as a replacement? Any idea if it is as good as the reviews and benchmarks

Just use arcticlean or alchohol etc. Carefully use a very fine set of tweasers to get between those small ones if necessary. Just to damage them.

The 960 isnt a particularly powerful card. I would spring for a 970 or something like a 380 etc at least.

970s out of my price range (from RSA)
But I'm getting a price range of gpu's so i will post top 3 cards in my range. Will also fix my R9 270x and reflow it

Yes, if you have a damaged resistor, you should have it repaired.

My wife and I recently got a Strix 4GB GTX 960, and only FurMark could really push it up there, and even then, it never got higher than the mid 70's in that, at a +125 overclock on the GPU (1503 mhz).

There aren't any water blocks for it, but I would still recommend it, as it seems to be one of the coolest running 960 cards out there from what i've seen in the older reviews, and observed here, in a Texastani summer in excess of 38C in the living room.
