GPU Config

Hi guys,

Can I get some feedback on the two options below.

1. 4x Quadro K5000

2. 2x Quadro K5000 with 2x Tesla K20 (or K20X)

This is for rendering, CAD and simulations and grid computing.

As far as I can tell these configs are possible, please correct me if I am wrong.

I don't really want to debate Quadro vs other GPUs as such, just feedback on the two above options.

They will power a set of U3011 (4).

Depends on what software you are using. Without knowing the software then I would have to say to keep away from the Teslas.

Using AutoCAD, Adobe software (including After Effects, Prem etc), 3Ds MAX

Also going to do some folding.

Basically the deal is Quadro per monitor or Quadro and Tesla shared between two - Tesla giving the Quadro a big boost.

It won't be as big a boost as you would think... Personally I would stick with the Quadros as I have a bit of a bias against Teslas in any amount smaller than 4 from previous experiences.

Okay so you think just buy 4 K5000s?

That should work shouldnt it - unlike GTX690 (which you cant use 4 as they are dual GPU).

You can still use 4 690s, just not in SLI

Yeah well not that fussed as they are not really built for this anyway (CAD etc).

They are built for High FPS not high polygon count. But will still work.

Oh im not saying they wouldnt work - just the Quadro would be the more ideal GPU.
