Got a PATA drive

Hey guys i've got a 500gb PATA drive from a Maxtor external drive that died.

So i took it apart and found the drive in there that uses a molex for power and the IDE connector (i think) the one with lots of pins...

Has anyone found a good way to make this usable without putting into an enclosure

I've tried little converters that seem to just be little bits of PCB and they don't seem to work all that well...

Just wondering if anyone's had any experience with this

used it when a friends enclosure died to get his data off the drive worked flawlously

I'll def. look into that But this isn't like a permanent solution, i was looking for something that would let me actually use it in my rig. it looks like i need an external A/C or D/C adapter for that to work

You can get different versions, I'm sure they do a sata power one.

make sure the pins are setup correctly so it works in slave/master mode (wow it's been a while since i've had to think about that with a hard drive...)

nope, it comes with a molex to dc jack connecter, i think the bits are at my partens house in my man draw, ill see if i can get a photo for you
