Google Chrome OS, Google’s open-source, web-based operating system has been revealed in a special event at Google headquarters. It’s mission? To kill the desktop.

haha the video :)

The guy sounds like he says "and so they created crumb"

Thought this was still based on a linux kernel? so the stuff the guy complains about (BIOS>POST>Bootloader>Drivers>OS) are still there

You must have bios...post...bootloader...drivers and google chrome is still an OS...so its all there ??

chrome will still use drivers yes? and load a program being the OS so that makes me feel that ad is based for users not so techie?

i couldnt get it working on vmware, it would boot and i'd see the login screen, type my details and nothing happens.

anyone else get it working?

lol maybe your net was down :P

I can see that being a bit issue especially with some/most of the ****tier companies that operate the uk telecomms (tiscali, talktalk etc.)

When i was with talktalk I had downtime on a weekly basis for up to 2 days.

Idnet has like none

i was able to login with username and password: chronos

so if this is totally freestanding, how do you save bookmarks, downloads, saved usernames/passwords etc

it seems like a total waste of time lol, if you booted into just a web browser, it would only be a matter of minutes before you needed a real OS for something
