Google and LG creates an insane 120Hz 5500x3000 VR display

Oculus need to come out with something like this for the CV2 and hopefully not a tiny iteration like HTC have done with the Vive Pro.

And what are the GPU requirements for this higher resolution? Using one of Kaap's quad-GPU rigs?

Close.. Titan V I reckon. But of course we won't be getting that any time soon at an affordable price due to our friends the miners.

I still blame Nvidia for that crap, just because they don't give a flying fart about us. They KNOW we have no other options for GPU purchases, and they don't care WHO they sell to, regardless of their weak attempts to indicate otherwise. They only care about raw profit, not WHERE the profit comes from.

I've said it a hundred times now, but we are the red headed step child and Nvidia desperately need another avenue of revenue as we simply don't provide enough to sustain them for the future. That is why they have been trying to break into countless other markets and failing. So basically as soon as something comes along that lifts its skirt to them? they be all over it like a rash.

And what’s wrong with red heads now?...

They actually do care about their market share for gamers. If they lose too much marketshare to AMD then it gets really hard for them to push things like Nvidia Gameworks, G-Sync and the like into the market. If AMD had the marketshare that Nvidia has today then we would be all running around using Free-sync and Vulcan while G-Sync and Gameworks would be rare to see.

I disagree there.

If they can't keep up with supply and demand, consumers will eventually go elsewhere. All those waiting for the next gen right now or upgrading will tire of not having an adequate GPU to purchase and will potentially go to AMD.

Once you swap over only a small portion of users change their hardware every 5mins and would swap back over to Nvidia. The main segment will stick with AMD until Nvidia releases another generation. After all, these cards are pricey so not everyone can afford to bounce back and forth undecidedly.

The same goes for AMD. And the evidence is there. The massive delay on Vega ruined their chances of good sales. It took too long and many went over to Nvidia. How many of those will go back now that Vega 64 is here? Very few no doubt.
