Anyone ever been to the restauraunt at the end of the universe?

(sorry, this isn't serious at all, but the hitchiker jokes had to be put aside quick and early)

I went to a very nice restaurant right on the Thames with a nice outlook of the Tower Bridge on my first night in town. I can't remember for the life of me what the name of the place was. All I remember is that it was expensive, and good.

Maybe someone knows the name of it... It's right in front of the weird dome-ish looking glass building right near the river.

Ok I found a picture that I can show u where this place is :p

Covent Garden has quite a few. The Rock Garden is pretty lush for a nice eat and there's places like Zizzi's for a bit cheaper nosh. There's loads round there take a wander is best

There's a gorgeous little Spanish place just behind Oxford street but I can't for the life of me remember it's name. tomato is pretty cool behind Oxford street too

Also a nice place to eat is the Angel Islingston where there some very nice restaurants of all types - Browns is very English food, Fez is pretty cool, Sedir Restaurant is very nice for something different, Tiger Lil's is fun, Jamie Oliver's fifteen is nice - a fair few :p

Nothing really strikes me as it... I'm sure it's probably on that list though. I'm pretty sure I have a picture of it on my SD card that I took my London pix on.

I guess it depends on the cuisine that you want really.

For a good "stuff my face" type of place, Planet Hollywood is great. If you can't get in there, then the TGI's opposite is very good. Both are over in Leicester Square btw. Wagamama is good if you want some Japanese food also :)

Also around Leicester Square / Covent Garden there is the Rock Cafe, Zizzi's as Kemp said (lovely Italian food at a good price). Ummm apart from that, if you want to go a bit more fancy, there's the Ivy which is very good (but expensive), or any of the big hotels (cos you can book lunch / dinner in all of them I think).

I used to work in Leicester Square so I only really know one's around that area. There are a few near Liverpool Street as well that are good. One just outside if you come up the stairs near the Maccy D's exit. Go out past Maccy D's, turn left and it's just down on the left hand side. Went there the other day and it was good!!

Save u`r money, fly to Tx, eat, fly back - worth every penny !

Unlike if u stay in London.

Prob cost about the same these days...

Meaning of like is like 42 or or 46 somthing isnt it? Seeing as your on hitchikers.

Noodle bar in greenwich is great.

Bar 38 is ok in Hammersmith.

Plus there is an old traven pimlico station, that is great if you like mead!

this website:

http://www.london-eating.co.uk/

is usally pretty good for finding places to try out. The reviewers can be a bit topsy turvy though ... aren't they always :)

Maybe the name will jump out the list at you (hopefully not wielding a meat cleaver ;)) for central london?

It depends on what type of food you like and also which part of London.

Hare & tortoise in Russell Sq is nice (Oriental)

Fez by Angel tube (Moroccan)

La Forchetta also in Angel - great Pizzas (Italian- Had a Xmas dinner there once)

Mirch Masala in tooting is great (Indian)

I hear Banana Leaf canteen is fantastic (Clapham Jct) - while you're there pop into the Lighthouse Bakery they have some of the best bakery ever.

Nandos is cheap and cheerful
