Good movies?

Wat? True story about a kid hacking the pentagon, and mistaking an actual nuclear deployment system for a "missile command" rip-off? That was a science fiction movie, and not based on fact in any way.

AlienALX: ok, I may have totally misread your sarcasm. Oh boy do I feel stupid now. :D

You have my apologies. I wasn't being sarcastic so if I came across that way then I apologise..

I had taken my meds by the time I posted that and by that time I was pretty out of it. I'd gotten my wires crossed and actually meant this film..

Which you can read about here...

Mod note - The reason I have linked to a torrent is because this was a made for TV movie that was never released for rent or sale.

However, being 100% factual it is, by a VERY LONG way, quite simply the best movie ever made about computers.

Even for you younger ones there's a lot to be learned in there, IE - where the ARM cpu your phone or tablet has in it came from.

Not at computer movie at all, but The Good, the Bad and the Ugly amazed me even when I was
just 9 years old and knew jack sh*t about what a good movie actually was.

I can also +1 In Bruges, The Presige. Even though The Prestige has quite an enormous twist
in it, it's actually worth watching at least twice. There are many hints and small details that you
can pick up on during the movie if you know the twist.

Aside from that, even though it's not a guarantee or any sort of actual hard standard, the IMDB
Top 250 actually has a pretty decent hit rate with my personal tastes, at least for those movies
I've watched so far.

Some others I've watched and could recommend:
  • Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb from 1964
  • Gladiator (2000)
  • L.A. Confidential (really love that movie)
  • Die Hard 1 & 3
  • Snatch
  • Heat (oh god, that shootout is just so awesome to watch for somebody who's had
    some proper military training)
  • Collateral (also by Michael Mann from Heat)
  • and a third Michael Mann flick: Miami Heat (some people seem to not be very fond
of that one, but it's always had a special place in my heart, mostly for how the
characters talk and behave, not really sure why I care that much about that  )
  • The Bourne Trilogy
  • I quite like the original Pirates of the Carribbean

I'm sure there's lots more I've missed that I would recommend had I remembered them, but
this is what comes to mind off the top of my head.

i just watched 21. jumpstreet. had a good laugh, the storyline itself is quite stupid, so not really worth rewatching, but the puns were okay.
rocknrolla is a nice movie.
