I want to get a new router to replace this $50 one have so it can be a back up one.
I don't really want to spend anymore than $200, I was thinking about going with a Linksys but i'm unsure but i would like Wireless AC, The only other option is Netgear i haven't been a real big fan of Netgear but the last Netgear router i owned was back in '06 so maybe they have improved in the last 10 years.

Thanks

The problem i had with the Fritzbox was the connection speed where it was slower than a 4 year old Billion. So i ended up returning it and went back to the 4 year old Billion and then i swap from the Billion to this ASUS one that i have now.

I don't really want to buy another ASUS one cause there was a story a few months ago about ASUS and there Routers.

I'll have a look at the Draytek Routers and see if i can find some reviews on it.

It's unusual to have issues with the Fritzbox did you have a look at the sliders in the software which sets it for either maximum speed or maximum stability as if it was set for stability then yes it will be slower than a wet week, I love mine i was having issues with the cheap S*** modem Optus sent me for the NBN as they only supply one type got my Fritz set up and things have been more stable

TBH those sliders didn't make any difference for me. Been over 12 months since i sent it back to the ISP.

Maybe too it had something to do with the area i like in, the ISP was confused too cause i only live about 2 to 3 kms from the exchange but it's a sub exchange not the Main exchange even tho i'm right on the border line for the main exchange.

Who was your ISP at the time as it sounds to me that they were too lazy to help get you sorted as I was three k's from the exchange myself and the fritz was really good but the Billion was better due to the broadcomm chipset it was so stable and just didn't lose sync but since my move it's been fritz all the way and a mate of mine who is a networking specialist in Emerald QLD has a 7390 and has had it for years with zero issues

Internode, Put it this way since i was having issues with 2 of them i sent both back without any problems they didn't try and make me keep it.

Unusual for internode BUT that being said though if you are on Telstras network billed through internode you have no hope as that's what was happening to me just got jerked around for ages and I wouldn't on telstra unless it was petrol and then I'd was to give them three loads

Fritzbox routers don't like me or my connection to the exchange.

Yeah I saw that. I'm on NBN but my router is junk. It's ok until she who must be obeyed starts plex or watches youtube on her phone and my games start to lag.

So even though the Fritz may not be for you I thought I might hijack it ;)

By the way -Internode were awesome until they were bought out. Even then they weren't too bad until the Basslink cable had to be cut. They didn't arrange for switchover or purchase enough backhaul from Telstra and left the customers in the dark. TBH it was TPG's fault - they as owners of iiNet and Internode knew well in advance. Coincidently - TPG customers were all switched over prior to the cut. The whole state was put back to dial up speeds.

Anyhow. Back on track now thread.

Unsure dude i never really had any issues with Internode as i have said been mostly on the Telstra side of things.

My connection speed is start to suck now.
