I have pipex homecall package, i only just took out the package but have terms to cancel for false sale of there product. Im looking for good Internet service provider that is good for gaming. At the moment im affected by the fair usage policies and also when i have restricted internet services i only connect at 500kbps but have fairly low ping. when i connect at 1.5 to 2mb i have very high game pings. Im looking for a service that has dedicated fast service with no restrictions. i dont want to spend an arm and a leg for good service. I have had a new wiring system put into my house by bt so i know my wiring is good.

Thanks in advance

What IDNet service u suggest cause i would go for the supermax but its £35. Whats the customer service like

My dad wont let me switch it. Hes happy with stupidly slow DL speeds. My pings are reasonable though.

when i have slow dl speeds i have bout 35 ping in bf2142 with all ports open, when i have 1.5mb connection it runs no lower than 250 ping its really annoying.

Customer Service is second to none and I work in customer service for a different ISP. They pick up the phone in less than a minute, and they get the problem sorted no messing. Decent people on the phone too!

Due to the fact that they are a reasonably small ISP, you benefit from great customer service and the speeds+pings are much better. Less competing even though you are on a 50:1 connection as far as I know...

Ham and Llwyd arent on IDNET. Me and Timmy did have ann odd spat the other night, but thats expected of any ISP. It never really happens and normally a 10 minute reboot does the trick for me :)

Any problems me and ham have are due to a phone exchange constructed from cardboard and lego and being pretty far down the line from it. Neither of us are on IDNet.

Some people have had troubles with IDNet but these are isolated cases and have been sorted out pretty sharpish so i would advise giving them a ring and seeing if there is any known reason for the problems and whether theyre likely to affect you. Then decide from there.

I had IDNet for 2 months, talking to Simon at IDNet literally everyday, they blamed people's lines, then their exchanges, then people's routers, then blamed BT, also blamed ADSLMax, I was put on 2mb fixed and it was still the same. Simon re-graded my line twice but it made no difference. I wouldn't say 2months was sorting something sharpish.

I know there were at least 20 people with the exact same problems as me at the exact same times who lived miles away (Southport etc). As soon as I changed ISPs my ping was suddenly stable and I didn't get the random disconnects I had on IDNet.

The main problem I had was - 300ms ping to the IDNet gateway - restart the router and 1/10 times it would fix it only to be back at 300ms 30mins later.

but avengeruk moved away from idnet, got the same problems on entanet then moved back and its fine - doesnt seem to be any ping problems on www.idnetters.co.uk (idnet forum) anymore since about october last year
