Good Cheap DVD Drive

NEC probably make the best inexpensive optical drives. Lite-On and BenQ are probably going to be cheaper, but hit or miss on performance and reliability.

Avoid Samsung like the plague. Here is the story on that:

Firstly it will work great...for a couple of months then it's all downhill from there. On one winter monring I awoke, shivering in the blistering cold as I had left the window open. I went to turn on the heat by turning on my poorly ventilated PC. I got a little bored so decided to play some Football Manager 2007. In my semi-unconsious haze I opened the DVD drive....nothing happened. I was like "WTF!" I tried again and listened intently...it sounded like it was stuck. So in a moment of madness I went to my tool box, picked up the biggest hammer and hit a loose nail on my table that was sticking out and making my desk wobble then went back to work on opening the DVD drive. I laid my princess of a rig down, rubbed my hands slowly acrossed the cheap glossy plastic of a front cover on the Antec P180b case. Popped the hood, and pressed all the right buttons. Then in a magical indescribable moment of relief the DVD tray appeared in it's natural state. Bare, freezing, so I cupped my hands around it to stop it from returning into it's cave, inserted the Football Manager 2007 DVD and released the tray back into the wild. The game booted up, I was overwhelmed with joy.

I then tried to burn a CD and I got burned by errors from the Samsung drive to cut that story short as I can't be arsed typing anymore.
