Going watercooled - Advice please

Planning on watercooling my rig very soon, have a budget of about £500

I am planning on getting two rads as I cannot fit a quad rad in my case, So I am planning on a 360 triple rad and a single 140mm rad for the graphics cards.

I am worried about the flow of things within the case and if i should run 2 loops and pumps or a single loop with 2 pumps or whether 1 will suffice.

Not sure whether to cool the chipset or anything else other than the CPU and if its necessary

My equipment is

i7 980x

Rampage 3 extreme

2 x GTX480's

Haf x case

I have examined my case am Im certain I can fit those rads in their, so just a case of deciding on the rest of the stuff, probably will go for Swiftech Apogee GT block

and thermochill rads.

I am uncertain with regardsa tpo the water blocks for the graphics cards as I have heard bad things regarding GPU full cover blocks.

Pump is likely to be a Laing DD5 18w but do I need one or two please?

Cheers

I'm almost sure a single 140 will struggle with 2 480's dude.

May need to rethink that.

I had a 280 on water with a single 120 and It coped admirably but they ain't as hot as the 480's

Pump wise my weapon of choice is always the ddc ultra 18w.

And providing you get something like an ek block you will have no issues going full cover

Ok thanks, not quite sure what you mean by full cover though? Have you got a prodcut you would recommend for my motherboard?

I would recommend 2 loops with 2 pumps if you have room in your case.

I reckon the 480's would need a loop to themselves.

The CPU loop could also cover the mobo chipset if you plan on overclocking.

As for full cover. I think lasher's referring to the VGA watercooling. you get two types of vga block.

VGA only covers just the gpu like the Swiftech MCW80. http://www.swiftnets.com/products/mcw80.asp

Full cover covers the memory chips and other heat sources. http://www.xspc.biz/razorgtx480.php

Right dude you are in for a shock because a 360mm (3x120) will struggle with 2x 480's!

So tbh you need to be prepaired to spend and spend big.

Also dude Id do your shopping at Specialtech, probably the best WC supplier in the UK.

Id also hazzard a guess that if you bought it all at once and all from ST I could banter a few quid off for you.

Thanks for the offer, will probably come in handy, with regards to the heat from the 480's I know they're hot but do you have any links or evidence that backs up your claim? I have heard different opinions on the overclockers forum so its getting a bit confusing with regards of what to do, I will change my case if I have to but Ive only just got this one so Im quite reluctant, if I do change it it would be to a Silverstone TJ07

Ive put a picture of my PC into paint to try and work out the loops etc but I did see evidence on a thread the other day that 2 loops are hardly any advantage over one here: 2 Loops versus 1
