Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Review

The moment, when after being so itchy that you go out and buy stuff without waiting much for reviews, the one by your favorite reviewer(s) gets out and confirms you haven't totally f'ed up. Priceless! Of course from using it I had a pretty good idea about that.
TBH I had to get used to the red a bit. But the features just did fit my needs.

Leaves me to say (again) thanks for the review!

For the overclocker only

Thanks for a very nice comprehesive review Tom.
I agree, the board looks very nice with the silver and candy apple red details.
If i were to build a Haswell platform right now this would certainly be one of the contenders. I also love that you point out that the board might not be the best choice for the peeps that are not overclocking. Good to get all the pros AND the cons.

On another note. Bloody fuckin shit...whats up with your language these days? I for one find it....a bit brute - Possibly even offending to some? No need for profanities imo.

Cheers.

Wow, this is quite a nice board when OC'd. Doesn't hurt that it looks the part too. I'm glad the matte black PCB is really catching on, it really does make a difference in the looks department

Now see THIS is a red/black board I can really sink my teeth into. I liked it when I first saw it, I like it even more now knowing that it's performance is just as good as it's looks. *adds to short list of recommended parts*

You keep on fuckin expressing yourself Tom - Down to earth reviewers, breath of fresh air and not candy arsed cock-togglers that think everything is awesome and full of the good stuff, etc..... Like this board a lot and your impressions of this being a spanker are certainly brought to life in your extensive review. Am amazed that amazon are now boshing these out at £145. Was going to get a sabertooth, still might - but this is certainly worth thinking about.. cheers TT

Great review

Thanks for this review Tom, though I'm a bit disappointed that you skipped over the UD3H, which is the board I ended up buying at a reduced Boxing Day price. $140Cdn, and I was rebated $30 of that. Not bad at all, considering the Canadian dollar is at the lowest exchange rate it's been in years.

My currency calculator says that the $110Cdn final cost was a mere £60.54. Try as I might I can't find much different between the two boards. They are feature-for-feature identical, save for two things: the red colour of the UD4H is blue on the UD3H, and the less expensive board has fewer power phases.

Since for me this is an upgrade from a 3-year-old GA-55H board, I'm quite happy with it.
